I’ve been renting from them for a long time. They DO NOT provide consistent service and they can be unpredictable (you may pay for a vehicle and get a different one of lesser - or more - value. The excuse is always “that’s all we have atm”). Last time I rented, the car had 3 tires low on air and no windshield washer fluid - when I brought to their attention they gave me the run around and didnt do nothing about it. Later that day I got caught on a snow-storm and could barely see due to accumulating frost on the windshield. Don’t expect stellar customer service, either . You’ve been warned.

I rent from budget 3-4 times per year when traveling. It's 20 degrees today in Providence, RI and snowing. I reserved a vehicle, walked 2 miles to the office at 1 Dorrance, and was informed that there are no cars available. The clerk also informed me that it is company policy to take reservations when cars are available (her words), and that there are 5 people waiting ahead of me. She reluctantly added me to the list while making it clear that although 8 cars are expected in later this afternoon, my chances were slim. I called Budget customer service and was informed that if I can go to another location (how??), I can take my chances there, but the same thing could happen. How on earth does a company treat its customers this way? I

Drop off address in downtown Providence is incorrect on Google and on all of our paperwork! This caused us to nearly miss our train as we could not locate the drop off. The location of 1 Dorrance St. is a parking garage that is not affiliated with Budget. When we finally located it a half mile away, Budget employees said the address has been incorrect for years. Fortunately, the very nice room yes there drove us to the train station do we caught our train about 2 minutes before it was leaving. PLEASE UPDATE GOOGlE AND YOUR WEBSITE WITH YOUR CORRECT ADDRESS! DROP OFF WAS A NIGHTMARE!

Address is incorrect and no one bothers to pick up the phone when you call. Reservations don’t mean anything since they won’t have a car ready for you anyways. Absolutely a nightmare experience. Do not use this place

When I first booked the rental, the online agreement said I did not have to refill the fuel tank. When I picked up the rental car, the Budget representative did not tell me that I needed to fill the tank up before returning. My final receipt has a fuel charge of $118.70 (which is way more than the 9.7 gallons of gas I used during the rental). I will never use Budget again and certainly not recommend Budget to anyone.

I'm giving them a one star because I can't go any lower. I arrived in Providence, Rhode Island for my daughter's wedding and was given an EV. I was not told about the vehicle nor prefaced on the maintenance it takes to keep these things charged. I was also given a car that was not fully charged so the first night, I had to hunt down a place to charge my car. The first charging station I went to told me it was going to take nine hours to charge the car. I had to go to two other places and found a fast charge however that was still one hour to wait. I did not do that much driving, but it was once a day, sitting for an hour to charge the car. It was also $20 every single time I had to charge. Fast forward, my flight gets canceled and I have to fly out of a different city. I was then told that my electric vehicle had to be returned to the same airport- that I would need to come get a gas vehicle to be able to switch drop off points. On top of all that, they wanted to charge me $120 to extend the day so that I could do the turnaround. I can't explain to you how horrible this whole thing was from the lack of information, to incredibly rude employees at the airport, to all the above. Zero customer care or service. NEVER EVER rent from them. I won't....

UPDATE: FRAUD: So I posted a review of a truck we rented that had significant damage. There is white paint marking the previous damage on the truck. I posted a review and photos of the damage and paint indicating the previous damage. BUDGET IS NOW TRYING TO CHARGE US FOR THE PREVIOUS DAMAGE!!! WHAT A SCAM. MAKE SURE TO TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR VEHICLE WHEN YOU PICK IT UP!!!!Do not rent from this facility. Budget gave us a beat up truck that had significant damage all over the vehicle. The truck bed was full of trash. We picked the vehicle up late in the evening after an 8 hour flight and didn't notice how bad it was because it was just washed. It was extremely embarrassing pulling up to our hotel, valet parking, and going to our meetings. The ironic thing is Budget sent us a damage notice because the tire pressure was low. The light was on when we left the airport but didn't have time to deal with it. I guess if you rent from Budget you need to put air in the tires and change the oil for them as well.

Save yourself the misery. They will rent you a dirty car that can’t go long distance. I drove from ri to nc and the thing started misfiring. Customer support was no help either. I ended up having to drive an unsafe car an hour away to exchange it. Thankfully charlotte international airport has safe reliable cars. The cherry on top is that the staff here in providence don’t pay attention to what they’re doing and put the rental times in incorrectly so you get overcharged because they add on an extra day. Make sure you check your bills. I will never rent from Budget/Avis again.

Through Costco we rented a budget rental that we picked up here. The storefront says Avis. There was one person working at the window with a line out the door. Another person was bringing cars out & he was also collecting them. We were given a 2022 Chevy Malibu with almost 30,000 miles. It had some pings & scuffs but happily everything worked properly. After reading some of the reviews, we were concerned, but happily we got off without a hitch.

I’ve rented many times from the same location. The girl working there is courteous and helpful. The last car I rented had bad smell of cigarette but for the price i paid i was not concerced - using “scented tree” helped.

If you cannot find the rental office, look for AVIS cross the small street. There are no managers who can help you with. Only clerks are there. The car I received was OK.
