Grixy's grooming is the best in RI! Elizabeth is always very attentive and she knows how to calm down my dog especially he gets super nervous about hair cut. She is the best!!!!!

Such a pleasant experience going to Grixy's. My Shihtzu is definitely not very keen on getting groomed but he is learning to be more chill about it with each visit. He looks very handsome too!

Great place for a dog wash and dog cut. My little guy is a handful and Grixy is very patient and professional.

The owner is awesome and very helpful, it was my dogs first time and she really helped keep her calm. Definitely going again!

My pup's nails split today after I attempted to trim them myself - they were brittle from a hike in the snow. Elizabeth was able to fit me in same-day to Dremel them down, saving my dog from potentially quite a bit of pain. She was great with managing my dog, who was quite nervous, and got us in & out really fast. Great service!

I called Grixy to ask about her services and she was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Her attitude made me completely against bringing my pet to her. I do not recommend her.

Elizabeth has been taking wonderful care of our sweet Labradoodle for the past several years since we moved from Boston. She is so thoughtful in her selection of unscented shampoos for his skin allergies, and is very understanding of his anxieties with her strict one dog at a time policy. The only time she's made us wait is a few minutes while she is wrapping up with her previous appointment, but her one dog policy is absolutely invaluable. Hesitated to write this review because I don't want her to get too crowded. She is by far the best game in town on the East Side of Providence.

I am deeply disappointed by my recent experience at Grixy's. I rarely leave reviews but feel that I need to give a heads up to other cat owners. I brought in my cat to get a "lion cut," and he left looking like a shorn sheep. On top of that, Elizabeth's demeanor toward me and my cat was cold and uncaring. I brought in my medium-haired tabby, Theodore, to get a "lion cut," a fairly common and particular style (a full mane with a shaved body, limbs, and tail, with a poof at the end) that can easily be looked up via Google. Theo often gets mats in his fur, and a friend of ours who also has a medium-haired cat recently got him a lion cut (not at Grixy's), and he seems much happier. I should have known that something was wrong when Elizabeth immediately shaved off the majority of Theo's mane--the hallmark of a lion cut--and then made the remaining fur on the sides of his face uneven. She then shaved his body unevenly; it was clear that it was uneven--the shave marks were obvious--but I figured she would clean it up at the end. (Spoiler alert: She did not.) She seemed extremely hesitant to shave his tail and made several comments about how the session would be over if he moved his tail at all. (At this point, I should mention that Theo was extremely well-behaved throughout the session, especially given that this was his first time being groomed. Of course, I'm biased because I'm his owner, but he's a very sweet cat who is loved by everyone at the vet, and he did not make a peep during the cut and, for the most part, stood very still. He even purred!) While Elizabeth was shaving his tail, he whipped it slowly, very briefly (for about five seconds), and she stopped soon after, leaving a long poof of fur like a feather duster. I'm not sure that there's any cat alive that would not whip its tail while it were being shaved, so I'm not sure what she was expecting. She did not even attempt to shave his limbs. And that was it. You can see for yourself the "finished" cut. (You'll see why I put finished in quotation marks.) On top of everything, Elizabeth's demeanor was unfriendly; she seemed reluctant to groom Theo from the very start, to the point that I felt that I was inconveniencing her. (I should have trusted my instincts.) She made no small talk; however, she did make several disparaging comments about the lion cut throughout the session; i.e., she said that he looked handsome before the cut, that he was going to be cold without his fur, and that my children were going to make fun of him. (This was a red flag, and I wish I had ended the session at this point. If a cat gets made fun of for a lion cut... you're doing it wrong.) I found her comments rude and unprofessional. When the cut was over, I got the feeling that she couldn't wait to get rid of us. I felt that I was being rushed, and she asked that I pay her before going outside to move my car nearer to the front of the shop. While I was moving my car, she put Theo in his carrier (I don't even want to think about how she handled him) and brought him out to my car with hardly a goodbye or thank you. I left Grixy's feeling as though I had put my cat through a traumatic experience, and for nothing. I see that there are many positive reviews for Elizabeth's grooming of dogs. Perhaps she should stick to canines.

Elizabeth is a wonderful groomer that truly cares about her work. I've been to other groomers in the area and I find them either to be unprofessional or poor at their job. I am very happy with her work.

I called a week before to make an appointment for my dog. I showed up on time, filled out some paperwork, picked a shampoo and then I was informed that the lady was running an hour and a half behind schedule. Instead of calling me to let me know, she just thought it would be ok. I left with my dog and needless to say will not be coming back.

Elizabeth only takes one dog at a time, so your dog doesn't have to wait for hours for a grooming. I took my labradoodle, Kobe, for his first haircut at Grixy's. Elizabeth was very patient with him and made sure I was there during his first haircut so he wouldn't get anxious. She's very detail oriented and is great with dogs. She did a great job despite my dog moving around a ton and not wanting his head touched. We are definitely coming again!

Grixy's is a very positive environment. My dog is slightly blind and needs some extra attention when getting grooming. I've never been happier with a groomer!

A co-worker of mine referred me to Grixy's and I'm so glad she did. I have a rescue dog who is nervous about new situations. Elizabeth the owner only grooms one dog at a time here. This is just the kind of low stress environment my dog needs to be in. We came for a nail trim and Elizabeth took her time, even allowing my dog to do a perimeter check of the space. She didn't rush through the process and provided lots of treeeeats. Also being able to stay with your dog the whole time is nice for peace of mind. The price she charged was more than reasonable. I will definately bring my dog back for a bath soon!
