Wonderful galleries featuring local artists. I really enjoy their events. They make the public feel welcome despite it being a club. Some art is reasonably priced, and more accessible than art at other galleries. The buildings are also beautiful and fun to explore.

What a fun experience! We went for the first time to see their annual small works of art. We were greeted at the door, offered drinks, and goodie bags with coloring books for my boys. So nice. The show was a lovely mix of mediums and subject matters. This will become a yearly visit! Thank you!

Beautiful complex of four antique houses joined together in the most attractive section of colonial Providence. Open for special exhibitions, otherwise private. Gourmet cuisine and quality art gallery!

I have been to the Providence Art Club many times. Be an event, a reception, part of Gallery Night or for the opening of a temporary exhibit. Every single time, I am amazed by the neatness of the rooms, buildings and grounds. They do spend a lot of time making sure this Club is top notch and that it shows very well to the public. Some history on the Providence Art Club, in 1880 a group of professional artists, amateurs, and art collectors founded the Providence Art Club to stimulate the appreciation of art in the community. This new club would exist "for art culture," the founders proposed, and when they met to draw up their charter one February night in 1880, they inscribed that phrase on their seal. What they needed, the 16 founding men and women decided, was a place to gather, and an exhibition gallery where artists could show their work and collectors could find "good pictures." Within a month, they had enlisted 128 members. Within six months, the Art Club had leased an entire floor of a large building for studios and gallery space, where its first anniversary loan exhibition drew 1500 visitors in two weeks. Soon the Club had outgrown its quarters, and by the winter of 1887, it had moved to its present home on Thomas Street. The galleries are to exhibit artist members' work. Periodically, they offer exhibitions open to all artist members. Annually, the Club hosts an open invitational and an occasional special exhibit where non-members get to exhibit in the prestigious galleries. Exhibits are typically two to three weeks, all open to the general public. If you are a local or if you are visiting Providence, it's worthwhile to check their website for the events calendar and see for yourself some terrific art.

Where else in Providence can you enjoy a 5 star meal surrounded by beautiful original art from some of the most talented people in the state? When you're done, stroll over to one of their galleries and view some amazing contemporary work. Unfortunately, you have to be a member or be with a member for dining but the galleries are open to the public.

Overpriced and not worth my time. Also the staff there might possibly be the absolute worst I have ever encountered.

This is a must stop while in Providence and free admission. This historic and exclusive art club has been providing a gallery space for over 100 years. A welcoming space where prices are affordable for their annual Little Pictures Show during Xmas holiday season; now in its 117 year.
