The Arcade Providence is a cool piece of Providence history and the oldest enclosed indoor mall in the country, dating back to 1828. It is a beautiful building, both inside and out, and is a fantastic find in downtown Providence. The space is clean, well-maintained, and features a magical sunroof. It is a cute mini-mall with lots of cute vendors, coffee shops, good restaurants, and intriguingly unusual specialty shops. These include a popular Lovecraft-themed bookstore and other unique shops. There are also drinks and food available. While it is an excellent historic spot to visit, chill, and shop, there are a noticeable amount of empty spaces. With more effort, it could be truly revitalized. It is definitely worth a walk through when touring downtown.
We stayed here in our holiday apartment – small, cozy, and equipped with everything you need. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Amazing location! We’ll definitely book here again on our next visit. There are small shops on the ground floor – as I said, just awesome! I’m thrilled.
