The food and atmosphere was excellent!! The quality of food was extremely fresh. Our only issue was there was soooo much we wanted to eat, we will have to make several trips to try them all!! It’s worth the trip portions were great!! We will ABSOLUTELY be back! And you will NOT be disappointed.

Very nice place along the river, not very big. Parking is hard to find. Service was very spotty as two of the wait staff didn't show. The only server did the best she could under the conditions.Our party of 6 asked for separate checks, but we were presented with 2 identical bills at half price which we were left to dissect. That was very unprofessional. Overall good!Parking: We paid $20 for valet parking to the restaurant above the bistro.The valet said he'd do us a favor, but wasn't supposed to accept cars of non patrons.

I participated in the first event of cooking with Chef Stefan. Very nice and friendly environment. Great location with a view of the water. Can't wait till summer when you can dine outside over by the water. Looking forward to trying the rest of menu. Chef Stefan is fun, exciting, enthusiastic and great teacher.

I visited The River Bistro and was truly impressed with its prime location, delightful food offerings, and an impressive variety of drinks. The combination of a great setting and exceptional culinary and beverage choices makes it a standout destination. Highly recommended!

Besides the food & staff, I loved the view & ambiance. Will definitely be back.Dietary restrictions: They offer gluten free options so please ask.Kid-friendliness: The chef personally comes out to greet you & make sure your satisfied.Wheelchair accessibility: There is an elevator to go down the stairs.

Awful service and a disgusting, vile owner (or manager) who thinks it’s okay to be rude to customers for any reason! Imagine how bad of a person you have to be to behave that way to people in general … nevermind while running a business. Do not go here, do not give awful people your business!

We arrived with a reservation to the restaurant. We sat down and were told to find the reservation in 5 minutes or we would have to leave the table and the restaurant. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. Come to find out it was in my junk mail. On the way out I told the head waiter we would not be back and he said ok. Really is that ok. We ate dinner elsewhere and were very happy not sitting on top of people The only reason I went there was because a friend of mine recommended this place. That was not the case tonight and I will be sure to tell everyone how I was treated. By the way your information does not say reservations required. I was very upset by what happened tonight. There is no reason for anyone to be spoken to in such a harsh manner.

Purchase to gift card back in December for good friends of mine for Xmas. We had been to this restaurant before the past and enjoyed it. They went to use the gift card (after already eating)in February, Was told that due the new ownership those gift cards are no longer accepted. There was no signs or mention of this policy anywhere in the restaurant. I called and spoke with the owner and requested for the gift card to be reissued under new ownership. Owner provided me a sob story of how they had to honor gift cards and then no longer taking gift cards. If this gift card situation is really an issue then Every guest should be notified prior to placing an order. And there should be signs posted about this policy change. I told the owner that I be contacting the attorney general and consumer protect. This company will not last very long with this level of professionalism. I can't imagine how many people will not be returned into this restaurant due to the mere fact you can't honor a gift cards, That's the risk you take purchasing a company and keeping the name sake the same. Good luck!!

The river bistro is 10000% the worst restaurant I have ever been to. After being sat (only 3 other tables being in the restaurant at the time) & waiting about 10 mins with no menu I decided to grab some on my own for the table. We ordered drinks after, which did come quick. (after asking for a cocktail menu that apparently doesn’t exist—they’d been open a few weeks under new ownership). We were however missing 2 sodas which we had to ask about 5 times for throughout the night (we got 1 of the sodas after 45 min). 15 more minutes go by until we’re asked for our order & put in another round of drinks. We’d already been there about 30 min. Mind you half the menu is burgers so we order 2 & then are told they can’t make burgers. (which should’ve been addressed but we didn’t say anything) we then order a few minutes later & order fries for the table as an app. 10 minutes go by of our drinks sitting at the bar. 40 minutes go by with no fries. We’d been there for an hr & 15 at this point. The man in charge (who i believe is either the owner or manager) walks by & I ask about it. He brings the fries out 5 mins later. I apologize but explain the situation & that we’d been there over an hr. I was very nice about it. He said it's "only been 38 minutes since the fries were put in" & that they are clearly slammed & that I was too busy "dilly dallying & dancing around". (I danced at our table as a joke as we waited for about 20 seconds trying to shed light on the situation). Mind you, tables that got there after us were getting food before us & it took asking a few times to get fries after 40 mins. After he walked away I teared up as I was genuinely taken back by how he spoke to me. He was very condensending & I truly can’t do it justice how & everything he said. I told the server I wanted to pay for the drinks & leave because I felt disrespected. She then came back over to tell me we had to pay for the food and that the food was going to come out. I once again said that I was sorry but that we didn't want the food. (all 3 of us at the table were on the same page). He then came over & told me it's ridiculous to be crying over french fries, that he doesn't do tears & that we’re written up to never come back. My friend then begins to back me up & explained that it's how he was speaking to me that I got upset. He says this is how restaurants in providence are, I explained I go to a lot of restaurants in providence & that isn’t true. His response was “i’m sure you’ve lived a lot of life.” Regardless of his rudeness (& literally being banned) my friends were persistent in wanting to pay for the drinks & what we had gotten so far. He cleared our table & said no but that he never wanted to see our faces again. Wanting to record the convo as he continued being extremely mean to us, I pulled out my phone. He then says "I know you'll leave a bad review but thats okay as long as I never have to see you again". A girl at a table nearby spoke to me as we walked out & asked what happened & said he was extremely rude (glad we weren't the only ones who thought so).So after an hr & 15 mins of sitting there with no food we got banned for showing concern in a very polite way & being very apologetic!!! (i was apologizing!!!) Not once did they apologize but instead blamed us for our experience.I do want to say I in no way blame the server. She was nice & I do understand that things happen.I'd have been happy to pay for our meals & stay had this man been nice to us, had been apologetic, & explained whatever was going on. As someone who's worked in restaurants for 6 yrs l understand things happen, as mentioned before. I have never been spoken to the way this man spoke to me & wish I had recorded the conversation. The river bistros restaurant and bar providence Rhode Island It’s the best place to be. Have a drink near the water dinner delicious restaurant customer service perfect. You walk in . Everybody’s smiling manager good personality I highly recommended.
