I have a disabled adult child who relies on me entirely for all of their financial support. My child was attending a day program which was costing me $36 one way for an Uber so they could get to the program since I have to work full time. The state of Rhode Island agreed to reimburse me for a portion of the transportation expenses and issued a check from Santander Bank. They made the check out in my child’s name because they’re an adult, so my personal bank would not allow me to deposit it, as they don’t allow third party deposits. I took my adult child (who has a valid state ID card) to this Santander Bank to cash the check today and we were turned away and told they don’t cash “non-customer” checks. The whole point of us going there was to have the check cashed at the bank it was drawn from; my child is not employed and does not have a bank account and also cannot be opening random bank accounts at various financial institutions that they wouldn’t know how to manage. The teller stated that “they don’t allow us to cash a check from non customers no more” and told us to “go somewhere else” or “open an account.” Let this be a lesson to anyone who may receive a check drawn from Santander and anyone even considering banking with them. This is a predatory and manipulative practice and we would never consider opening an account here on principal. I spoke to my mother in law about it when we got home (she’s an existing Santander customer) and she’s decided to close her account with them after this. Do better, Santander.

Another bank that could careless about their clients . Pay day came went to atm went to withdrawal my rent money and there was a error and no cash came out but it withdraw the money out my account . Call in the put in claim nothing they can do for me at that time call in next day and they'll fix give you a temporary credit so you can pay your rent cal today yes we can't do that till Monday when the atm tech comes in . Love the toss me around game so no one really helps or cares and someone had the nerve to say something about the money you lost ! The money I lost no the money your machine stole on me . Branch manager who ever claim to be a manger that spoke to me and my girlfriend was also very rude
