My son left a $500 deposit at Toyota of Smithfield to order a Tacoma. A truck came in and he bought it. After the transaction, he noticed that they did not include his deposit nor did they refund it. They have admitted the mistake and called him several times but are stalling and the refund never comes through. Bogus excuses are given by the finance manager each time. It is beyond me that a business would steal from a young first-time buyer. Choose your dealer carefully and read the BBB complaints. They have done this before and it is on record.

They wanted to charge me $1400 for rear brakes... went down the street to a local shop and it's $400. Please don't get anything done at this dealership. Buy your car and leave!

Just had the pleasure of buying a new GR86 from Toyota of Smithfield. My salesman Mustafa Akhtar was amazing from start to finish he made the entire "out of state & over the phone" process truly simple and quick. Local dealers wasted my time but not him. He truly was a "10" and I strongly recommend anyone looking for a new Toyota to give him a call. The entire process of purchasing this car was extremely simple and pricing was transparent no silly fees nothing extra paid for the vehicle I didn't need or want. This is the place for your new Toyota purchase....have Mustafa Akhtar help you out he won't disappoint!

They claim they sell at msrp, however, their "paint protection package" is a $2,495 markup and dealer profit. Please Don't be fooled into that folks. These folks are snakes. I got an awful vibe there. Typical sleezy dealer. I couldn't wait to leave and ended up buying elsewhere. Don't even bother going. They will keep you there forever.

BUYER BEWARE! I visited this dealership recently to look at a used Subaru Outback advertised on Car Gurus. I liked the car and asked whether the price was negotiable and was given resounding "no" from the salesman and sales manager as it was "a good deal." As the vehicle was above our price range, I was concerned about costs from hidden issues. When I asked whether it was certified, I was told that they could not give it a Subaru certification as they were a Toyota dealer. They told me they did, in fact, give it THEIR certification which "was better." I trusted their assertions and went home to discuss it with my husband. After some thought, I returned 2 days later with the plan to purchase the car if it passed a pre-purchase inspection by a local, very reputable Subaru dealership. Unfortunately, the inspection revealed 2 significant issues involving the engine and transmission which would cost over $6000 to repair. I returned to Smithfield Toyota with the report and they responded to the report with accusations towards the Subaru dealership stating that they were "trying to upsell" me which is totally untrue as they never mentioned selling me any car. They also said the Subaru dealership was trying to get me to pay for unnecessary work. Again, untrue...they never mentioned doing the work themselves. Finally, they brought me into the service bay where the car was up on a lift. Four men stood there to "show me" there was no leak! Seriously? I can only assume that they were trying to intimidate me or, at least, make me (an older woman) feel stupid. :-(Finally, it was a struggle to get them to return the Subaru report (which I paid for). Needless to say, I did not purchase the car and would recommend that anyone considering buying a used car from Smithfield Toyota get it inspected by a reputable mechanic as well. Also, I wouldn't put much trust in their "certification." Finally.... prior to writing this review, I checked and found the exact same car still listed for sale at their dealership at the same "good deal" price. As I said....BUYER BEWARE!!!update : their "good deal" has not sold after several weeks despite them lowering the price.....hmmmm???

My father brought in his Tacoma for a diagnostic and repair work. The truck has a check engine light and throwing code p0037 and p0057 for Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Heater Control Circuit Low. Being some what capable mechanic myself I replace the 2 faulty o2 sensors with denso oem sensors but the code still comes back. So I think it might be electrical issue so I had my father bring the truck to get it check out. The tech said Toyota cars doesn’t like aftermarket sensors so they would have to replace it with a Toyota oem sensors. At this point I’m like whatever after trying to fix it myself and I need the truck to pass inspection coming up soon so I had him agree to the repair. After spending over $1000 for parts and labor the check engine light is still on. Did another diagnostic and the tech said the ecm is not getting communication from the o2 sensors and the truck might need a new ecm which is a very expensive part. After all this money spent I’m just told it “might” be something else. So the original repair I agree to wasn’t it. Wish Toyota of Smithfield can credit what my elderly father originally paid and use it towards the suspected part.

Made a very bad impression. The car had a CEL. They charged $170 to diagnose that the aftermarket trailer wiring came disconnected from the battery and was causing a short. They told me it would cost $170 to replace the trailer hitch wiring. When I got the car back it was clear that the wiring was not changed and that they did a very sloppy job of re-connecting the wire to the battery. For $170 I made them re-do connecting the wiring to do a better job (which only took 10min). I felt very taken advantage of for spending over $300 to crimp a new connector on a wire. In fact, I made them put a new connector on, it looked to me like they did not replace the connector the first time. On top of it all, I also had 30,000-mile service for over $400 done at the same time. They certainly could have thrown in the connector fix with all this money I was spending with them. Instead, they have lost a customer, If they had done a good job replacing the connector and said that it was covered by the diagnostic fee, I would not feel so taken advantage of.

When I called to make an appointment for an oil change. I was told that the afternoon was wide open so I took advantage. Made my appointment for 2 was there at 1:45. I was told it would take 40 minutes, so I stayed and waited. 2 hours later and I was still waiting. Not sure what happened but I don't think it should take more than 2 hours to simply change the oil. I watched 3 other customers come in after me and leave before me. Again, should it take over 2 hours to change the oil? I own a 2016 Camry.
