“I recently had Blazing Editions print thirteen 24" in diameter circular prints in dye sub on aluminum for two exhibitions at Soho Photo Gallery in New York City, which will open on May 29, 2024. The quality is excellent! Even though these are black and white images printed with CMYK dyes, the prints are neutral with no unwanted color tints. Dye sub printing on aluminum is a more complicated printing process than making prints on paper or canvas on an inkjet printer. The image is first printed on a transfer paper, then the dyes on the transfer paper are infused into the aluminum under heat and pressure in a press. All this has to be done correctly and Blazing Editions knows exactly how to do this process. In addition, they have a CNC router that was able to cut the aluminum print into a 24" circle. Highly recommended!”

“The flowers and vases are unique and stunning! I was fortunate to discover Gallery Belleau at the Art festival in Stuart, Florida. The beautiful hand blown pieces were so attractive and popular that you could barely get into the booth! I selected an arrangement of flowers and stems in a monochromatic style and they look amazing in my home. The staff were so helpful and patient, helping me select the perfect items for my arrangement. I am quite sure I will be back for more!”

“Wonderful galleries featuring local artists. I really enjoy their events. They make the public feel welcome despite it being a club. Some art is reasonably priced, and more accessible than art at other galleries. The buildings are also beautiful and fun to explore.”

“The RISD Woods-Gerry Gallery has wonderful high ceilings, beautiful historic interior details, and large expansive windows. The natural light just pours into the large rooms. The artists work showcased are diverse, eclectic, traditional and inspiring. The curators are spot on with their placement, collective continuity, and the balance of mediums. Visitors experience a flow from one space to another that promotes conversations about the pieces.Even when the gallery is full, visitors do not feel constricted or uncomfortable lingering at a certain peice that intrigue them.I highly recommend a trip. Openings are on Thursdays.”

“I have been painting at Art by You for many years. I have many beautiful platters, pitchers, and gifts I have gifted over the years. The owner is always so helpful and flexible with families with small children! I was even further impressed this past February School Vacation - prompting this review - when upon opening, her shop was filled immediately. She has around 28 seats and every table, except 2, was filled with people waiting patiently for her to get them supplies. However, the 2 empty tables were being "taken" by a rather large group that were asking questions about the paint policy. (Every person must paint.) And were loudly deciding if they wanted to stay. While this was happening, lines of smaller groups were coming in. The owner had to politely turn away three small families while this group was walking around actively whisper-insulting the owner. After about 15 minutes, a 4th family walked in. The owner informed them she was full and the new customers pointed to the two empty tables. The mother asked if she could sit there and the owner informed them that the large group was sitting there. The mother said she would wait, and one of the women in the large group heard and scoffed at the owner. The owner then had to ask the large group if they were painting. That's when the family decided to leave. It was clear the owner was frustrated and I believe she handled it very well considering the way she was being treated. The other two tables were filled immediately and many customers apologized to the owner on behalf of the large group after their departure. She has my business for as long as she is open! As a teacher, people in the industry are often mistreated. It's a shame that this mistreatment is shifted to business owners during school vacations. Please be mindful that employees are people who deserve our respect. Visit Art by You for a calming and fun crafting experience.”

“A taste of the past Scrimshaw is the art of carving on bones, teeth, baleen and tusks of animals. It really developed in the early 19th century on whaling ships in the Pacific Ocean and helped the sailors pass away the long hours in distant lands. Most of it was never signed and has been called the only original American art form. A Scrimshander is a person who makes scrimshaw and that's the name of this unique store. They have some of the most exquisite scrimshaw imaginable, using ancient walrus and mammoth tusks and various elephant and certain sperm whale teeth. The Marine Mammal Protection Act forbids any whale teeth harvested after 1973 to be used but the items made before this time can be sold and worked on. Scrimshanders meticulously keeps track of every item they sell and will give you a detailed history of it's source. They also have polymer reproductions and will do extremely fine restoration work on existing scrimshaw. Besides scrimshaw the store also have a fine selection of Nantucket Baskets. The baskets are finely weaved, decorative items that were first crafted by men struck on the stationary lightships to help keep from going absolutely bonkers. Some of the baskets are so delicate they look like they can be crushed in your hands and come in all different sizes. Lots of amber jewelery, frames, greeting cards, lighthouse models, Xmas ornaments and fantastic sculptured models and drawings of beautiful sea birds are displayed and just about any type of nautical artwork is available. This is a great store for anyone interesting in art, history or nautical crafts. If you want something unique, historic and at the same time absolutely beautiful this store is worth checking out. Just make sure you bring a fat wallet because fine art like this doesn't come cheaply.”
