“I have been dealing with a rare, hideous disease for almost 15 years. I have been a patient with Breakwater Care, formally known as Associates in Primary Care Medicine for over 25 years. My father-in-law was a renowned vascular surgeon (Retired) and he told me that even though he had the best education from Ivy League schools, he always listened intently to what his patients were feeling or saying. Why? His answer was that he has studied thousands of conditions, diseases and illnesses. Yes, he can order many tests and find out what is wrong with his patient. But, what medical school doesn’t teach you is to listen how their condition is affecting them as an individual. The patient has put hundreds of hours learning every aspect of their condition. They know how it is impacting THEIR daily lives. A textbook doesn’t offer insight into this particular patient or how to positively impact that person, leaving them better off than before through actions that show care, kindness, and support. He strongly believes in never stop learning. I found the later part to be true when I took my mother to the hospital and one of the physicians, who was not treating my mother, heard that I had/have a rare illness. His best friend had just been diagnosed with my rare disease and he not only kept asking me questions while my mother was being evaluated before heading to the wing the hospital where she would be treated. The doctor inquiring about my illness followed me to the area of the hospital where my mother would be treated. That is exactly the kind of physician everyone wishes that they had as their primary care doctor. I am one of the lucky few. Dr. Steinmetz not only listens to you but takes his time with each patient. I do not mind waiting to see him as this shows that he cares. He doesn’t operate like a factory, giving only five minutes at most to his patients. I’d rather wait for a physician who is going to listen to me, know exactly how my disease affects me on a daily basis, has all of my information in his hand, makes sure that I’m current with all my vaccines and tests, and goes through each medication I am currently prescribed and every supplements and/or vitamins that I am taking. I have been to Boston, Philadelphia and New York to meet with “The best”physicians. But, I beg to differ. I can honestly say Dr. Steinmetz is far superior than the majority of all who have treated me. Dr. Steinmetz is a fabulous doctor with a great bedside manner. He combines his exceptional medical knowledge with genuine warmth, empathy, and respect for each of his patients. He makes you feel heard. He greets me with a genuine smile, never has been condescending nor arrogant. He demonstrates genuine compassion and his attention to detail is quite remarkable. The entire office staff is fabulous. Michelle is such a caring and compassionate person with whom I have known for many years. Additionally Soua, who is Dr. Steinmetz assistant, receives most of my messages on the portal and always answers me my questions promptly. The ENTIRE staff is so helpful, caring and makes you feel genuinely cared about which is an amazing asset to Breakwater Care. I have obtained 3 master degrees in the business field as an executive consultant with a high-tier firm and would refer to the staff as the “Perfect Hires.” I normally do not take the time to either critique, praise a business or an individual unless I am 100% sure that what I am conveying is accurately and objectively true. I feel as if I am in the minority of having a primary care doctor whose dedication and tireless work ethic makes him an exemplar as a physician deserving of such high praise.”

“Everyone is so nice! The receptionist are great and make sure you feel welcome! The nursing staff and doctors have been incredible (Dr. Sullivan rocks!!). I also get super anxiety for shots and blood draw; sometimes my blood surges drops after and I borderline faint. The NP’s are always incredible on having ice packs ready and offering me water/ staying in the room and talking to me incase I do lose consciousness. A receptionist even came to hold me hand last week for my vaccine so I could be distracted. I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate their kindness and care. They take mental health just as serious as physical health! I have recommended friends to the practice who have other doctors and love them as well!”
