Dr. Ireland is great. Takes the time to review your overall health and its impact in your eye site

I don't normally write reviews, but this place exceptionally annoyed me. I had an appointment at 8 am which is the same time the office opens. Rather than have patient's wait inside, they lock the door and force a line of patients to form outside in the cold. A lady came up to unlock the door, turned around, and sat at her desk. No "good morning," no holding the door open for the elderly man she made eye contact with through the door, nothing. We all file in to check in for our appointment. When it's my turn, I'm given an electronic pad to sign forms. I am not shown the forms I'm signing nor am I asked if I would like to read the forms I'm signing. The last straw is the billing. I have Eyemed which includes a $10 copay for exam and $0 copay for contact lens exam. I am told as a new patient, I will be charged the copay plus $75 for being a new patient needing a new prescription for contact lens. I ask why my insurance won't cover this and am told it's a fee Koch eye charges on top of insurance. Why would I pay for vision insurance if I'm only going to be charged an arbitrary fee on top of my copay because they're unhappy with my insurance's reimbursement? I cancelled my appointment and immediately left. At no point was I told while booking the appointment for my contacts that this fee would apply or that it even existed. I can have an eye exam at the optical shop in Walmart or Target for less and likely be treated better as well.

I love this location. They are always so friendly and helpful. I stopped in today because one of my lenses kept falling out of my frames and Lindsay helped me right away. This is the second time she's helped me repair a set of glasses within minutes and free of charge. She gets them back to brand new and it's such a relief to have someone quickly fix something rather than them telling you that you have to send them out for a repair, wait however long to get them back, and then pay who knows how much. Thank you Lindsay!

Fantastic eye doctors and glasses specialists. Reception leaves much to be desired. Today reception staff pulled a mother with her baby into their office to chat. Probably off duty staff. But the baby had a full diaper and the entryway/ lobby is nauseating with that post natal stench of diaper load.

Very disappointing. 2 days in a row I waited more than 40 min for a scheduled appointment. . Staff is polite but disorganized . Testing not done because staff was not available.

I would give this place one star if it wasn't for Dr. Ireland. She is an incredible doctor who cares about her patients and the only reason I continued to go to Koch. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff has been rude and condescending. During my most recent visit, I left work to attend an appointment only to be informed that my insurance was not accepted at that location, despite the fact that all other locations did. This was incredibly frustrating and didn't make sense. When I made the appointment, the staff member should have informed me that my insurance was not accepted at that particular location. I informed them that I would not be returning since it was too far to travel to the Kingston office and I wouldn't be able to see Dr. Ireland at the Tollgate location. However, Dr. Ireland called me personally to apologize for the inconvenience. I believe she is the reason many patients continue to come to this office despite poor customer service.

Unprofessional front office staff. They didn’t have knowledge of methods of payment they accepted. It took 15 minutes to check me in. I’m sure they thought I didn’t hear their snide remarks or maybe they did and didn’t care. I let the woman who did my glaucoma test know I wouldn’t be returning to their location. She and the Dr I saw were kind and that’s why I gave the location 2 stars the rest of the staff could use some customer service relations training.

I started going to this office about a year ago. I have been very pleased with my care. Dr LeBlanc spends a good amount of time with me on each visit. She explains everything carefully and completely. Being over 60, I have multiple concerns and she addresses all of them thoroughly. I recently had a problem with one of my eyes and they fit me in that day! I am very happy to be a patient here.

I have been a patient at Koch Eye for over 25 years. 99% of that time, I have purchased my eyewear at Apple Eyewear and had excellent results and customer service. Unfortunately, my recent experience has basically guaranteed that I will never use them again. After a mid-January eye exam, I went to the optical shop on 1/31/23 to order my new lenses. A very nice young man was working the shop by himself on this Friday afternoon, and there was a line. No worries--I ordered new lenses for my glasses and sunglasses, and was told they would be in in two weeks. He also informed me that it was his last day at Koch, and that his supervisor would confirm my order.I received a call mid-February saying that my lenses were in. A few minutes into the conversation, it became clear that only my sunglass lenses had been ordered and they had arrived untinted. The woman on the phone blamed the young man who had been work, and assured me that the correct lenses would be expedited. I reminded her that I had ordered TWO sets of lenses and was assured that all would be taken care of. On March 8th, I received a call saying my lenses were in. I went into the optical shop, where I found only ONE set of lenses (the sunglasses), and they were the wrong prescription. To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. Once again, I was reassured that the order would be corrected and expedited. I did not receive a call until March 29th. My two sets of lenses were finally in. After expressing my extreme displeasure in how this had been handled (and that clearly, the word expedite has no meaning for them), I was offered a $50 refund on my $787 order (this was after insurance). The optical shop at the Koch Eye Associates Tollgate Road clearly could not have cared less about the inconvenience of this transaction to me. They didn't even apologize when I was able to have the lenses put in my frames. I will not go back.

Dr Vania Bae diagnosed my eye problem. She did a thorough job and was the nicest Doctor. I am very impressed and will consider going to her in the future though the drive is farther away.

Waiting over an hour for your scheduled appointment is absurd. I understand things come up but there were so many elderly people fed up and frustrated. staff doesn't update you at all. they obviously are over booking.

Extremely rude staff over the phone and in person. Needed refill on eye drops. When I picked them up the pharmacist questioned it was a different dosage than usual so I called Koch to check. They said dosage was right and pharmacist was wrong. This went on for 2 weeks back and forth between me the pharmacist and Koch staff. Finally got someone at Koch that said yes it should have been the original dose only to have another call me about 2 hours later to say no it's wrong. Very incompetent. Meanwhile I ran out of drops. When I asked to speak to the doctor it was like talking to a wall and I never got to speak to her. Also they don't take VSP at their Greenwich Ave location? Isn't this all the same practice? That's makes absolutely no sense at all. On another note when I called to make my annual appointment for eye exam I asked for an earlier date. Woman on phone was rude and said well you scheduled it this way so it must be the way your insurance covers it. I asked if she could check that for me and she said no you need to call your insurance yourself. She couldn't be bothered. Great customer service! I've since cancelled that appointment and will be going to a new provider.
