Had to get one quick item at 9:55pm on a Friday night I was in and out in under two mins but regardless of how long I knew I would be The lady working literally told me I had two mins and proceeded to lock the door at 9:58pm when the store closes at 10pm and I’ve never felt more not welcome in a business

This store has great deals, but the workers are very rude and mean. The cashier, Irene, was extremely rude and disrespectful. She told my son he couldn’t wear his backpack and asked him to leave the store because backpacks are not allowed. I explained that we didn’t know about this rule and suggested they should put up a sign stating that backpacks are not allowed in the store. How are people supposed to know otherwise?
Despite this, she continued to be rude and told me not to come back to the store. Based on her terrible customer service, I’m pretty sure I won’t.

Everyone that work there is super RUDE! It’s like they don’t want to be there sooo why apply there?! Everyone always seems miserable! And they ALWAYS have an attitude! Honestly, I love the store because of the great prices !! But refuse to go there again !!
HIRE better people !!! That actually want to be there !! And can be nice to the customers.

Whatever girl who was working July 3rd 2025 around 4:50pm HATES THEIR JOB. I was getting rung out, then she stopped and took her time texting whom ever on her phone instead of continuing to ring me out. She then never told me a total and was waiting for me to look at the screen to see my total. Very unprofessional customer service & extremely rude.

Employees can never open the store on time. 30-40 minutes after scheduled opening is not ok. A few have no customer service skills what so ever. If you don’t like your job quit, there’s a million jobs out there. This is what happens when you build one on every block. Can’t staff the stores. God willing they’ll be closed soon.

I shopped at dg. this evening the cashier was Very rude,she took a cellphone call just as she began ringing up my merchandise, didn't give me the correct sale price, didn't give me a chance to enter my info for the app I have,as I began getting frustrated with her she stated she didn't need the attitude!! I try very hard to not be on my phone when cashing out as I feel it's rude but to have the employee on a private call..unacceptable I won't be back there anytime soon!

When I was in Dollar General, I wanted to get a couple of frozen meals for dinner. I decided to get one of the cheap Michelina's Frozen meals, and I noticed there was a price tag for Stouffer's Large Sized (19 Oz) Lasagnas for $2.95. However, when I went to checkout my items, it rang up for $5.50. I said that there was a shelf tag saying the product was $2.95, and the associate basically kept telling me I was wrong, and that the product was in fact $5.50. I then proceeded to show her the tag saying the product was $2.95. She then said that it was a smaller size that was on sale (the one the store does not sell at all) and that someone probably put the tag there by mistake. She then removed it and revealed a tag that said $4.25 for the 19 Oz size. I asked if she could at least honor the $4.25 tag. She then said the stupidest thing: that the extra $1.25 was in fact sales tax. I am a cashier myself. I know that sales tax should not have been more than $0.30, seeing as RI sales tax is $0.07 a dollar. I ended up not getting the product for either $2.95 or $4.25. I just ended up passing the product up and did not end up purchasing it for almost $3.00 over what the original tag I saw said. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with my experience. This is also not the first time this has happened. I have had several times in the last few weeks where things did not ring up properly, and everyone basically said they cannot honor the tags because of one excuse or another. One of the assistant managers of all people also keeps doing this, acting very unprofessional. Overall, if you want a discount store, go to the Family Dollar or Dollar Tree literally down the street. This store has given me nothing but trouble the last few weeks and they've lost a customer.

I have such a love hate relationship with this store. It's a discount store and I go here when I need cat food, a few times I've come here and wasn't even acknowledged at all, but there was a few times a few people stood out to me, in a good way. I once went in there and a young man named James immediately greeted me upon entering and asked if I needed help, he was also very sweet when he rang me out, I think I even made it a point to tell him he made my day with his amazing customer service, he's probably the reason I come back here because he was so kind and I hope one day I can tell him again. Great customer service is so hard to find, and ironically another time, a young lady named Jasmin helped me with balloons and she was patient and kind as well. But the store is sometimes hard to navigate because the isles are small, not including all the stock that's always in the way that hasn't been put away yet. The parking lot is pretty decent in size and it's easy to get in and out of here but I don't know it's a hit or miss going here. I still go but, I wish the customer service was more consistent.
