Its a small shelter, really nice experience visiting looking for a cat, very few cats there, many dogs looking to be adopted.

My dog recently somehow got out of yard and was picked up by Animal Control, when I called to see if my dog was there the women on the phone was nice and assured me my dog was safe & doing well. When I got there the Animal Control Officer brought my baby to the door to greet me, she was so nice and you could tell that she loves the animals, as we were talking she was telling me that she was new to West Warwick, well I just want to welcome you to the City and thank you for all you do for our furbaby's!

So we adopted a dog and a mean dog from West warwick animal shelter. They said if we ever need to return him that they will take the dog back we literally have a legitimate reason the dog bite and attacked another dog and person 3 times the first time they convinced us to not return the dog and they said give the dog time so we did. Then the second time he bite a kid nothing happen thank God now for the 3rd time the dog hurt a person and hurt 2 small dogs at the same time so I called west warwick animal shelter told them we can't keep the dog he is a liability risk so west warwick animal shelter is refusing to take him back they said if I drop him off they will charge me with abandonment.. so know we r stuck with a dog no shelter will take because he bite someone and I found a shelter that was going to take him but they called west warwick animal shelter and they told the other shelter the dog bite someone so now we are screwed for trying to do the right thing no one wants the dog cause he is not a puppy this sucks and don't adopted feo west warwick cause they lie just to get you to take a dog off there hands and then when you have a ligament reason they refuse to help

They do not return phone calls. I had 3 cases of canned cat food. Last time I donated some, they were closed (weird hours - though their website showed they should be open - they were not) - and I did not want to make the trip back so had to drop them over the fence so someone would find them when they got there. So this time, I had 3 cases and decided to call first. I called once, told them what I had, please call me back! Nothing. I called about one week later, told them this was my 2nd call, and if I don't hear from them, I will have a Pawswatch volunteer pick up the cases of cat food. They never responded. That's pretty s_____y, no? I feel bad because I love the animals and they are ones losing out. I see it like this. I will always give my donations to Pawswatch/Community Cats now. THEY truly care and want every donation they can get. Guess West Warwick Animal Shelter people don't care as much as they should. Done with that. Bye bye.

Went to Salmon River Vet who was there today spaying and neutering cats. My boy got neutered and is doing quite well. Dr. Loiselle has been doing affordable spay/neuters for cats for years. I took a bunch of cats I found to him for their sprays/neuters. I highly recommend and its very AFFORDABLE!!!!!

This places owners, mangers don't care what animal they give u. This Manger girl lied said it was our cat had a scratch on nose which didn't, was 6 years old where it was really 11years old. The cat was so decayed and handed to us in thin bag told good luck. I cremated a cat that wasn't even mine. My daughter refuses to go near urn, knowing it's not ours. Yet this women convinced us it was. I never should have believed these people. Not professional people and disgusting

I just visited with west Warwick animal shelter with a friend who has Down syndrome. We were looking for a cat for his family. We didn't have an appointment but when we arrived the girl working the desk (Abby) said there were no bookings so we could come in. She showed us the animals and explained the details of each one, age, temperament, cost etc, and answered some of my friends additional questions which had nothing to do with the animals. We got an application and Abby went over all the costs with us so we could write them down. She couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. As sad of a place as an animal shelter can be, she brightened it up and made our visit enjoyable and informative. Hopefully my fiends family will adopt a cat from this location and I know when I'm looking for a an animal this will be one of my first stops. Thanks Abby and all the cats and dogs in west Warwick.
