Julie puts a lot of effort into her teaching and her painting and the results of both are pretty amazing. Her paintings are so spectacular in their color and their contrasts and as a student of Julie’s I have to say she works hard at relating to each student on our individual level.

Not only is the quality of the artwork amazing but the quality of the artist is unmatched! She's courteous, informative, and accommodating. If you can't afford a piece you love she'll find a way to fit it in your budget. Even better supporting local artists and small businesses!

If you're looking to expand your skills or you're just starting out (like me!), I can't recommend Julie's coursework highly enough. Her techniques are fully explained in such a way that opens new doors to capturing light and all of its beauty in the impressionistic style. The exercises that accompany the lessons have helped me truly understand the concepts and have challenged me to step up to another level of understanding how to capture light on objects and in the atmosphere. While her own work is inspiring, it is her vast experience and her caring style that create a fun and fulfilling learning experience. Taking her course is giving me the confidence to develop my own style while using techniques created by the masters of impressionism. What could be better?

Julie is a gifted artist and teacher. She creates a comfortable and stimulating environment for students to explore the creative process and their own talents. An outstanding experience for both the beginner and experienced oil painter. Having never attepted oil's to now having the confidence to take on most subjects, Julie has been the guiding influence to my progress. I have come to realize that even when I’m feeling discouraged at the beginning of a project I know that if I follow Julie‘s instructions I will be rewarded with the results at the end of the day. Her uplifting personality makes every class an event that I look forward to each week. I wish she could always be resting on my shoulder as I paint! She fosters and nurtures the love and joy of painting in all its aspects, especially color. Julie has an uncanny ability to see more color and beauty than you could ever imagine in everyday things. She sees every student as the individual they are and draws out the artist in each one, careful not to impose her style but to bring out the style of each person she guides. Once I had begun taking her class I just couldn’t stop. I was immediately hooked by the knowledge and enthusiasm Julie brought fourth. It is great to be able to learn so much in such a fun and friendly environment. Julie's classes provided me with a place where I am able to paint, learn, and have a great time with people who shared a common interest. This not only strengthens my skills as an artist, but it also makes for great friendships. I am incredibly happy to have the opportunity to learn to paint with Julie and I would recommend anyone who is interested in painting to take a class with her.

I looked at my picture and I thought Who did that painting! I DID!!" And that is how I feel every time I finish a painting with Julie. Never in my imagination did I think I could understand color. Julie is patient, knowledgeable, and gently urges me out of my comfort zone and that is why I am actually painting pictures that I am proud of. Julie has a knowledge base that she teaches us starting with definitions , creation of a color wheel, and the value chart. She allows us to be creative but guides us along the way.Julie gives all that and more as she creates an atmosphere of kindness and respect in her studio. I have learned so much and I feel like I can also give. I loved art before but now I love it as an artist. My last picture I loved but when my son said he wanted it I felt so proud.
