II really like to thank Phil and Laurie first of all for having such wonderful—and I mean wonderful—customer service! I’ve been in the automobile business for about 20 years. I stopped turning wrenches about 2017. It’s really hard to trust people, especially mechanics and shops, with my vehicle and my family vehicles. But there are two shops I will take my vehicle to: the Newman’s brothers, one on Liberty Street and the other one on Oak St in Westerly . Lori kept me updated on my Mazda! My daughter blew the motor in her car, and Phil and his mechanics installed a used motor at a reasonable price for labor and the motor! Very pleased because I’ve been driving it and it seems good! Thank you!

I brought my car here because i was having trouble
Pumping gas. The pump was clicking off every few cents. All the lights on my dash came on. Phil diagnosed and told me I needed a part only available through the dealership. Given the part number, I ordered it myself at half the cost he quoted me. After completing the work, I was still unable to pump gas and the lights on my dash were still lit. The SECOND time I brought my car to Phil, he said he cleaned out some hoses that had water in them and I was all set. I still couldn’t pump gas and my dash lights were still on. The THIRD time I brought my car to Phil for the same issue, i had a 14 hour road trip that evening. I asked if he could change the oil. I picked my car up after the third visit and STILL couldn’t pump gas and my dash lights were on. The problem was never resolved and I ended up having to rent a car because of his negligence. As a courtesy I asked if he could waive the charge for the oil change. The answer was no. When I refused to pay, I was told never to come back. My car is still not fixed and I had the additional expense of a rental car. If that’s not enough, the oil cap was left off and oil spewed all over the engine. Terrible service and communication. Zero attempt to do right by the customer.

Phil and Lori are simply the best! When our engine went they helped us make the best possible decisions and helped save us thousands in unnecessary costs. They are fair, reasonably priced and above all else KIND! I cannot say enough good things about them! We will be using Phil’s exclusively moving forward for all of our auto needs!

In this day and age one expects customer service to be lacking or missing entirely. Phil and Laurie have gone above and beyond customer service and deep into good old fashioned human kindness!! They have taken amazing care of my elderly mother and talked with me on the phone (I live in Nevada) to answer my questions and help us make smart decisions about her repair needs. I can’t speak highly enough about this shop and these people. Thank you so much for getting her on the road again and for keeping her safe from the wolves that tried to scam her. Phil’s is the best and I only wish we had you in Nevada too!
