We LOVED our stay at Shelter Harbor Inn. The inn itself is quaint, cozy and charming. The beds were comfortable and the room was a good size for a weekend stay. Breakfast and coffee in the mornings was an added bonus, and the restaurant for dinners or drinks is delicious and well priced. It’s in a lovely neighborhood that is great for walks and less than 10 minutes to beaches and downtown. Highly recommend.

This was our first stay at the Inn. We had a really nice room in the carriage house which had a desk/chair, sofa, king bed, fireplace and refrigerator. The bathroom had a walk in shower. There were chairs outside the door if we wanted to sit. The breakfast was more of a continental type but that was fine for us. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, as was the bar which was a bit disappointing. But we were there during their off season. The staff was exceptional - extremely helpful and very pleasant. They were especially helpful when I ran into a snag with Expedia ( who cancelled my reservation out of the blue) and with a knee injury I had recently had. We love the area and plan on returning during the season!

We were there for a family wedding and spent two nights at the inn. We had the adjoining room in the barn and were very pleased with the room. The service was amazing and the staff was very friendly. The food was catered for the wedding and the continental breakfast was good. The only suggestion would be for better lighting between the main house and the barn . The road leading to the barn parking was also not very well lit. Overall we had a pleasant experience.

We had a very nice 3-day stay in late September 2025. Most of the staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful both before and during our visit. However it was difficult to not compare this visit to our stay two years ago. In 2023 the restaurant was in the “new” event center. During that trip the breakfast was wonderful. Now the restaurant is in the area previously set up as a living room that had couches and comfy chairs. The breakfast buffet is much reduced and the one young lady on the front desk was busing dirty dishes, replenishing coffee etc. The breakfast hours are 8-10 but by 8:30 the croissants were gone. It would be nice to get coffee earlier, at least 7:30. As noted elsewhere, there are no fridges in the rooms. The mini split AC, a few feet from your head, buzzes every few minutes which is very noticeable. Apart from the double hook for towels outside the shower, there was not a single other hook of any kind in the room. The only king bedroom available in the main house when we booked was a balcony room which would have been lovely if the door out to the balcony had worked without kicking it open and if it had a screen door to let in fresh air. On the balcony was a table and two chairs. Definitely not worth the additional cost. It is a conveniently located inn with plenty of easy parking and the fire pits at night were very pleasant. The man who shuttles to the beach is very pleasant and helpful.

It was very nice, they were renovating some of the building which did not disrupt our stay. My only problem was no closet for hanging my dress. There was a wardrobe but short hanging space.
Food was very good, nice area and things to do on the property.

We had a very nice 3-day stay in late August 2025. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful both before and during our visit. Everything was well appointed and spotless in true “inn” style. These things being said, we do offer a few observations: As noted elsewhere, guests should note that there are no fridges in the rooms. Also, no guest ice machine—staff happy to fetch from basement. It would be nice if there were instrux on how to set the mini split AC so that it doesn’t buzz every six minutes while scanning for any adjustments to be made. Finally, heads up that apart from the double hook for towels outside the shower, there was not a single other hook of any kind in the room—for hanging jackets, long garments too tall for comfortable wardrobe hanging, clothes in use not needing to be on a hanger, etc. Strange, from our experience. Still, if you stop and think about it, the presence or absence of the above really is not necessary for a fine experience, which we had. At a country-style New England inn with plenty of easy parking plus other nice amenities and services, there’s nothing wrong with “simpler is better.” And, again, ten stars to the staff!

The beach is the main attraction and our beach transport driver could not have been any nicer and informative. Also, love the quick breakfast before heading out and the new dinner menu was delicious!

We had a wonderful stay at Shelter Harbor Inn in Westerly, RI! The breakfast was absolutely delicious each morning and a perfect start to our days. The location was ideal for attending a nearby conference; convenient, yet tucked away enough to feel like a retreat.
Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed, with a private balcony that made for a relaxing spot to unwind. The outdoor spaces on the property are gorgeous, offering plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the scenery.
Highly recommend this inn if you’re in the area; whether for business, a conference, or a getaway, it’s the perfect blend of comfort, charm, and hospitality.

Booked a queen size bed and was given a full size bed. Barely big enough for 2 people.

Our stay at The Shelter Harbor Inn was lovely. The room was cozy and the king bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was large and bright.
Our dinner and cocktails were outstanding. The staff were attentive and friendly.
The only negative was that the room lighting was poor. It was almost impossible to read with the three table lamps lit in the room during the evening.
