We adopted two of our cats ( Bailey and Molly) a couple of years ago from the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary and had a great experience. We are huge cat lovers and often go back to visit other cats or charitable causes that they hold. We often donate and encourage anyone who loves cats to do the same.

The adoption process was very fast here. Everyone seemed professional and friendly, and you could tell the volunteers knew a lot about their cats. I was surprised - but it all made sense when after adopting my cat I had to take her in for a nearly $7,000 emergency surgery. Our new cat had what appeared to be a piece of a toy causing a blockage. At this point I knew it wasn't anything from home. I reached out to the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary to see if they were aware of the issue, or could recognize the toy. They were very standoffish about this, and avoided my questions. I then asked if they were able to share a gofundme to help us pay for the medical bills, they refused as it was "against policy". In the case of adopting a sick cat by accident they will not be any help or provide any support.

Love this place and what they do. Hard to find for those of us who are unfamiliar with Woonsocket as they are hidden behind another store, but worth going. Their indoor flea markets that help to fundraise for the support of the animals is worth visiting too. Volunteers and staff are polite and friendly. Please visit our donate to help this worthwhile place.

Great little place that helps out with cats. They have various flea markets to raise money for cat adoptions and to help people who are struggling to keep their cats and other pets.

The Woonsocket cat santuary and the volunteers are fine. I actually met some very nice volunteers, but Deb, the director, is HORRIBLE! She is very rude! if you have the misfortune of having to deal with her, your wonderful and exciting experience to be introduced to a new kitten will be a terrible one. I do not know how she became the director of the cat santuary she has NO compassion! I am leaving my experience that I had with her, so you won't make the same mistake I made by going to this cat santuary. I wanted a kitten for my other cat at home. Deb made me jump through hoops to adopt. I thought I was getting a healthy kitten, but the kitten had ring worms. It took her 3 weeks to inform me. My 5 year old grandchild and myself had been kissing and cuddling the kitten. She notified me by calling my cell phone and left a voice mail message to call her in regards to the mother and the kitten. There was no mention of ring worms. I did not hear the message for a couple of weeks due to having an issue with my cell phone. There were other means of her contacting me. They had my home phone number, my email, and my home address. She did not even try these other ways to reach me. When I addressed this with her, she stated they were volunteers and did their best. I could have understood this if the call was not very important. I was informed that my beautiful kitten may have ring worms because the mother had ring worms, and it was very contagious to animals and humans. I was very upset because my grandchild was carrying, hugging and kissing the kitten. Also I had my other cat as memtioned. I took the cat to the veterinarian to be tested at the expense of $126.00. The kitten tested positive! The doctor started my kitten on 2 medications a liquid and a spray at the cost of $139. 00. I called the cat santuary to see if they would reimburse me because the kitten was in their care when he got the ring worms, and I thought I had a healthy kitten. Deb stated that I would not be reimbursed because I waited too long to return her call. It did not matter to her that there was a reason for this. We got into a heated discussion. I was so upset! I love my beautiful kitten, so I will pay whatever it takes to make him better. It is quite apparent that Deb did not care about the kitten. What would have happened if I could not have paid for this treatment? I love my kitten and will give him his wonderful forever home. PLease if you are thinking of going to the Woonsocket Cat Santuary please reconsider.

I had a terrible experience with *** the director at the cat santuary. She was incredibly rude! I just wanted to adopt a kitten and give the kitten a good ho**** thought I was adopting a healthy kitten but they found out the mother had ring worm and unfortunately so did my kitten. I am having the kitten treated and at my expense. ***, the director, said they left a message 2 weeks prior and I did not respond. I told her I had issues with my phone. She made it quite clear she did not care or believe **** fixed the charge port and was able to retrieve my messages. Her message was to call the cat santuary. She wanted to talk to me in regards to the mother and the kitten. There was NO mention of ring worms. I called and when I found out I made an appointment with the vet.I am not being reimbursed because she claims I waited to long to get back to her even if I had a reason she did not care. I am glad I adopted the kitten. He is now out of there and will have a very happy home to live in.Please save yourself from being upset and never adopt a cat from the woonsocket cat santuary. *** should have her title removed.

The people who work here are great! Helpful and compassionate when I went to talk to them about my lost cat. I got to see a beautiful gray kitty get adopted by a family while I was there. I also got to pet one of the tuxedo cat brothers. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name, but he was a love bug!

This place makes it so difficult to even see the cats. I went in and was told all the cats needed to be fixed. All of them, to call back next week. They refused to take my number to call me back when they were available. I called again, and once again I was told to call back. It's so unorganized. People should be able to meet the cats regardless of being fixed so they know if they bond well or not before investing time waiting. We should get a call back when what we're looking for arrives. As is, this place is a gamble. Did you call back too late?

Originally came to the reviews to see if others had the same experience with the director as we did. She was very rude and it became quickly appearent she didnt want us to have a cat before she even asked about our history. It is a shame, the volunteers otherwise were very nice and i dont think people complaining about the smell is very fair. Its a shelter and the people that were there were working hard to clean. Im just hoping that the director is that way because she can afford to be picky, it would be terrible if the animals werent able to find a good home because of that.

This place is awesome!! On Sundays in the back, they have a rummage & resale thrift shop where all the proceeds go to the cats!! It's set up really nicely inside and they are always taking donations of usable items and clothing.

They care for the cats, keep it clean and have fun time with them. The volunteers are nice and care for the cats.

They've served the community for close to 30 years, caring for so many homeless cats and kittens and getting them "furever" homes with wonderful families in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Incredibly dedicated and loving volunteer group to keep everything running well!
