Petland Regina
3010 Quance St, ReginaNormally I'm a huge fan of this store. Don't get me wrong, most staff is competent and handle themselves very very well at this store. But I was saddened tonight to leave the store empty handed due to just not getting talked to. Love this store and I get good help is hard to find but that was annoying.
Edit: changed to 4* from 3* after recent doings there with a great manager lady who changed my views.

Pet Valu
2035 Prince of Wales Dr, ReginaSales associate helped me find a bigger size of my brand of dog food. Unfortunately they didn't have it in stock so she suggested a different flavor and said it was very popular. She also said that if my dog doesn't like it, I can return the bag as long as it's over 50% full. Very helpful and friendly there. Was greated upon arrival and asked if I needed help finding anything.

District Brewing Co.
1555 8th Ave, ReginaFriendly staff upon entering the building. There’s a tasting bar with several beers on tap and they sell four and six beer flights if you’re unsure what beer you want to try. The beer is good, but perhaps the best part is their outdoor area, which has a nice patio, fire pit, and a lawn area that contains games and lawn chairs. The one side of the green space has trees so there’s shaded areas if you want to avoid the heat. If you blink, you might miss this microbrewery if you’re driving down 8th Ave, but it’s a worthwhile place to stop by to have a beer or two.

Orange Izakaya Fusion Cafe & Bar
2136 Robinson St, ReginaI came here a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and we took advantage of the beautiful weather and sat on their patio. Lovely shade from the umbrella, subtle breeze from the wind and the sun peeking through here and there providing that warmth.
My go-to is their Dolsot Bibimbap but this time around, I tried something else on their menu. We ordered the Caterpillar Roll ($15) which had crab meat, cucumber, asparagus, topped with avocado, masago and a peanut butter sauce. We also got the Japchae ($20), a sweet potato noodle dish with beef or tofu (we chose beef), and veggies. We shared both dishes!
I really liked the peanut butter sauce from the Caterpillar Roll. I was a little sceptical about it but that pairing worked. Light nutty flavour with a hint of savouriness. The pickled asparagus added a tang. The cucumber provided a nice crunch for texture. The avocado gave it that creaminess. I would order that again!
As for the Japchae, flavour was savoury with a light sweetness. I couldn’t really taste the sesame oil for that nutty flavour though but it was topped with sesame seeds. The sweet potato glass noodles were cooked to a good chewy texture. The beef was tender and umami but I wished there were more pieces. As for the peppers, some pieces were not julienned, so when eating the dish, the piece of pepper didn’t match the mouth feel of the rest of the dish.

Siam Authentic Thai Restaurant
1946 Hamilton St, ReginaI really enjoyed the food here. I tried the combo, and honestly, it was a steal of a deal for $17.95. I chose the two spring rolls, cashew nut chicken, and Tom Yum soup, and everything was really good. The Tom Yum soup especially had great flavour.
I also ordered the fish cakes separately,, and they were a generous size, full of shrimp, and had a unique taste to them. I also tried the beef jerky, which was surprisingly soft, very flavourful, and went really well with the rice.
Overall, the food was awesome. I was visiting Regina and honestly did not expect to find Thai food this good, so I was pleasantly surprised.
The only downside was the service. It was okay, but not the best. The servers did not seem very engaged or attentive.
That said, the food itself was excellent, and I would definitely come back for it.

Smokin' Okies BBQ
2547 Quance St, ReginaI moved to an apartment across the street from this business. To celebrate my birthday and moving in I decided to give Smokin’ Okies a try. I was not disappointed, I ordered ribs, burnt ends and brisket for myself, poutine for my wife and a side of fried. I went early to pick up and had a beer while I took the atmosphere of this place. Service was prompt and very helpful. My order was prepared promptly, took it back to our apartment and ate. The ribs melted off the bone, brisket was perfectly cooked, so tender, the burnt ends…off the scale! I can’t wait to go back…..
