So I was fleeing a situation of domestic violence and travelling across the country to get back to a safe environment. My account was locked down due to Fraud and I came to this branch to try to deal with the issue. The teller had been contacting the fraud department and was 9 minutes into a call with a wait time of 20 mins (the bank was still open for another 30 mins at this point). I was then forced out the door by the Manager and told to contact the complaints line, for what reason I am unsure. He advised me that the fraud department was in Eastern Canada and now closed which was a blatant lie as I am sitting here at 18:56 (20:56 EST) on the line with the fraud department. While speaking with the fraud department I was told that in order to verify my identity I would have to go to a branch, which I was ejected from at 16:30 hrs.
I had to then carry over 75lbs of luggage to a soup kitchen in order to be able to eat. On top of being a recovering addict that has to be exposed to those surroundings.
And to add insult to injury, the branch manager kept on saying I totally get what you're going through. To which I replied you have a warm home to go to, you probably have a warm meal sitting for you on the table. Never ever in customer service unless you can fully relate to the situation should you ever tell someone you know what they're going through.
I hope that he never has to be in a position where he is a victim of domestic violence, a recovering addict, with no warm shelter. But only then would he fully understand my situation.

My daughter was harrased by an employee at this branch. The employee Amal Hinin, repeatedly probed and asked inappropriate personal questions. The employee did not stop and kept insisting on the inappropriate question to be answered. No forms needed to be filled out, and my daughter even provided 2 pieces of government ID, so I don't understand why the inappropriate question needed to be asked again and again.
Julia, another employee, had to intervene to get my daughter out of the situation. The second employee even had to apologize on behalf of Amal. Amal was not apologetic and did not own up to her mistake.
The harrasment has caused my daughter a tremendous amount of mental distress.

Terrible experience all around would be an understatement. Their manager Naren is completely aloof, makes promises he cannot keep and actually goes out of his way to avoid contact with you when you have a concern. I had to actually walk in to the branch in person to be able to speak to him and upon doing so, "Sonjeet" literally walked right up to my face, inches away and began yelling at me. I thought she was going to hit me. Their call centre yells and calls you names when you ask for clarification, etc etc etc. I was promised an "incentive" at one point and never saw it. So far, only their "Escalations" department seems somewhat competent. I am in shock after my most recent interaction with them and am debating going a step further but have no idea how to proceed. Opening an account with Scotia bank was one of the worst decisions I have ever made.

I've been a customer with them for years, and have been using my account for purposes related to my sole proprietorship, which is a self employed business under my name (I do not receive or send payment under a business name). They tried to convince me that this is illegal, which it isn't, and froze my account. Even after I verified that my business is a sole proprietorship operating under my name, my account is still frozen. I have an investor profile with them that hilights that I'm self employed (which I am) and my annual income (which is how much they have seen going in) so there should be no surprises or issues on their end, yet they refuse to let me use my unlimited account, which I pay $17/month for, for the activity which is 100% legal as defined by the Government of Canada.

I’m a customer with them, and I asked for a bank card from they, they turned me away just cause it’s not my main branch. And my main branch in regent park area also turned me away. Thinking about trying a new bank ! They just don’t understand how far regent park is when I can easily walk downtown, close where I live to get a new bank card!

If you need to see a teller be prepared to wait a minimum of 15 minutes. At 10AM this morning - 1 teller open and 10 in line! Use an ATM if possible

Another long line with too few staff. Always reliably bad at least.And just be aware that they make it literally impossible to phone the bank. There are literally no phone numbers published that will allow you to wait on hold or get a call back from someone at the branch. If the goal is the most awful customer service imaginable, this is a great approach.
