Smith-Hazel Recreation Center is a community-focused facility currently undergoing renovation. It features a spacious outside playground where children can run and play freely, along with a paved walking track that encircles a picnic pavilion, pool, and playground. The center has been a staple in the area for years, providing a good place for teens to gather and engage in activities, which is seen as a positive influence on the community's crime rate. However, some visitors have expressed frustration over the lack of updated information regarding pool hours, as it is only open to the public from 1 to 7 PM due to morning lessons. Despite these issues, the center remains a nice place for fun activities like basketball, and there is a strong sense of community pride connected to its history, particularly with the nearby historic marker honoring the Aiken Graded School.
With 3 life guards, I felt secure while enjoying my aquatic class this morning.

Building is currently undergoing renovation. The outside playground is nice with ample space to allow kids to run and play. Paved walking track also that goes around picnic Pavilion, pool, and playground.
