Original experience along with update:Recently came in to buy some paint and returned to buy extra when we ran out. I asked the guy behind the counter if he could make me an additional quart based on my last purchase. He pulled up my account and got to work on my request. After going home and reading the instructions given on the paint can to mix the old paint with the new paint I realized that the color was drying on the wall drastically different. After a closer look I realized that some of the numbers of the mix were different from can to can.So, I called up and a man on the phone said to bring it back and they would fix it. The next day I brought it back and the same guy (Quinn) that I dealt with the first time was there behind the counter. I explained my situation and he said it was my fault for mixing the cans together. I pointed out I only did so because of the instructions on the can. He then pointed out that the paint bases were different which is why the numbers were different which is why I shouldn't have mixed them. I reminded him that when I came up I asked him for a quart of the previous paint I purchased according to my account. If I received a different type of paint, it was not to my knowledge. He then proceeded to tell me he couldn't help bc this location was all out of the paint I needed and tried to encourage me to go to a different store. I explained that the man on the phone said that they would fix the issue and encouraged him to go to the back and double check. Finally he admitted to finding a gallon of what I needed and then proceeded to mix the color. Afterwards he brought the paint up to me and tried to charge me full price ($70ish). I explained that I never asked him to mix the paint, and that I was under the impression that they would correct the mistake free of charge due to them selling me the wrong paint the first time. Multiple times we went back and forth with him saying "this is the best price I can give you" and yet each time he lowered the price. But I kept standing my ground that I'm sorry he's wasted the gallon of paint but I wasn't paying for their mistake. After about an hour and the line building up behind me I finally agreed to pay for some of the paint.I come to Sherwin Williams because I've always believed them to be the experts and professionals. But this time I felt pressured into a purchase after haggling and after being blamed in multiple ways for a mistake they made. I also feel like I trust them to be the experts when this time they failed me.To my knowledge, Sherwin Williams only has one employee working at a time at this location. I've never been in and seen more than one person. This makes it difficult to ever want to return. While I could get an employee that is helpful and knowledgeable I also have a good chance of walking in and working with the same gentleman again. On a side note, I tried to express my feelings privately by emailing customer service and asking them to contact me, but unfortunately they never reached out.Update: after submitting a second email with customer service, they reached out and offered me a refund. My first email may not have gone through as I got a response to my second email within 24 working hours.
