I toured this daycare five months ago, and during the tour, they assured me that the infant room was kept clean, with shoes off for hygiene. However, when I returned to register my child, they placed him in an older infant room (under 1 year old), where both teachers were wearing shoes, and two visibly sick children had dried mucus on their faces. Even the receptionist entered the younger infant room with her shoes on during the tour.
When I raised my concerns with the manager, her attitude was rude and completely different from the warm welcome we received during the tour. She initially said the teachers wear shoes in the room because it’s for older kids who are going out frequently . I pointed out that it wasn’t an older kids’ room but an infant room with crawling babies. She then claimed it was just one particular teacher who need always to wears shoes, but both teachers were wearing them, as was the receptionist who entered with her shoes during the tour. Despite my concerns, she kept changing her story, finally saying the floors are vacuumed at noon, which doesn’t solve the issue of walking around with dirty shoes in a room full of babies crawling and putting things in their mouths.
If this is their response and idea about basic hygiene ( vacuuming once a day!) for babies, what about other issues? Babies at this age are known to get sick in daycares, and we have to take all possible measures to prevent that. Hygiene should be the number one priority. If they don’t enforce something as simple as keeping shoes off in an infant room, what about washing hands or not accepting sick babies!!!
I’m sure their response to this review will be dismissive or ignorant of these concerns, just like when I spoke to them. But please, trust the negative reviews. Don’t risk your baby’s health here.
An update:
It’s very interesting—and completely coincidental!! that the last review of this place was from two years ago, with a very low rating. As soon as I posted my review, three other reviews appeared on the same day, with several more in the days following, all emphasizing how nice and clean the establishment is. This is disappointing. Instead of providing me with an appropriate response—or better yet, improving their cleanliness—this is sad!

The Growing Place has been a great childcare facility for both of my children. My oldest daughter who is now in Elementary School loves to come with me to pick up my youngest daughter so she can see the teachers and directors who she loves. Everyone there has treated both of my kids like their own. This daycare is clean and a great place for your little ones to learn and grow.

My child has been attending The Growing Place since he was 6 months old, and this is his last year. I couldn't ask for a better place for my child to be while my husband and I both work full time jobs. Every morning, we are greeted with smiling faces from not only Ms. Kelly & Ms. Amanda but from all the teachers that we see along the way. Don't even get me started on the love and compassion that each of them shows the children. Each teacher we have encountered at our time at The Growing Place has made me feel so at ease leaving every morning. They treat the children as if they were their own, and as a parent that is the main thing you look for. I fully recommend to any parent that is looking for a clean, safe place to leave your child and make you feel at ease when you do.

I was always skeptical about sending my kids to a preschool until I came across The Growing Place. They make you feel welcome, and let you know that the kids are in a fun filled safe environment. My girls have been attending here since 2022 & there is NO other place that can top the Growing Place. I'm so so thankful for Kelly & Amanda being the best thing for the center and caring for all the children like they're their own.

My oldest daughter has been enrolled at the growing place for 3 years and I loved it so much that when I had my 2nd child I knew there was no question about where I would send her this is by far the best place to have your children I drive 30 minutes just to send my children here, Kelly and Amanda (the director and assistant director) really loves those children at that center like their own and makes sure they get the best care possible if I could give this place higher than 5 stars I would thank you to all the teachers that have loved and taken care of my babies xoxox

We have been going to the growing place for year now, I have a one year old and also a 3 year who are both enrolled at the center. We are highly impressed with how clean, safe and comfortable the center is for our children. The staff has always went over and above to keep the center and children clean and well! We have viewed 4 other daycares in the area prior to enrolling and by far the growing place was Top Notch! The director and assistant director welcomed us with open arms as they do every morning for the last year.

Our son has been at The Growing place since he was 8 weeks old. We could not ask for a better group of people to take care of him. The teachers love the children as their own. We are met every morning with smiling faces from both the Director and Assistant Director along with any other teacher we may see on our way to the classroom.
The center is always clean and if there are any concerns regarding an illness they are always on top of things. We have been so lucky to have our son with such caring people.

My youngest daughter has been attending The Growing Place for four years now. I was home with my older daughters during their first five years of life, and it was a hard adjustment for me to have my little one in daycare! I am so thankful that I can drop her off with people who know her, know me, know my family, and I can trust to love and care for her well! She has sweet friends and feels safe and comfortable here. I recommend The Growing Place as a warm, safe, and inviting place for your precious treasure!

My family and I love The Growing Place. We just left because we moved away and were so sad. The place is very clean, and they have wonderful protocols in place in the Post-COVID world. The facilities are awesome. My kids looked forward to going each day. The staff truly loves the kids, and my kids learned a lot. Due to the nature of the business and the times we are living, there is some staff turnover, but each person that is hired is carefully considered. There are many teachers and staff members there that go above and beyond. We were so sad to leave and we will miss it!

I have nothing but positive things to say about TGP. Both of my kids were well taken care of, and loved their experience here. Quality teachers, and leadership have made this place somewhere that I trust, and will continue to allow my children to be a part of in the summers (now that they are both in school). Is TGP perfect, no. But, neither am I. I choose to believe they have my kids best interest at heart, and I am grateful for the love they show all of their kiddos.

My daughter attended The Growing Place from infancy, and is now in 1st grade. She went into kindergarten ahead of the curve academically and socially. My son is currently in the 4’s classroom at TGP. Entrusting our kids to others, and going back to work, is never easy, especially when our daughter (our firstborn) was born. Our experience has been excellent. Our son’s teachers love him - it’s obvious! We’re so grateful this is more than only childcare. I don’t stress about my son when I drop him off - peace of mind is hard to find, but I’ve got it when he’s at TGP!

Do not recommend!! I read extremely hard through there policy’s and everything and I thought it was a good school. I was very wrong. After 3 days my son got a disease being there, clearly they just let any kid in there sick or not. Extremely ridiculous, wouldn’t give me the money back also didn’t care he had been in the hospital twice. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE!!!!

Run the other direction. Both teachers in our child's classroom were fired on the same day for being too rough with the students (one was eventually arrested over the incident and the other is now working at Kid's Stuff in Clemson which is terrifying). This was in addition to multiple other unexpected teacher and room changes. We don't know how rough because The Growing Place won't let anyone but school and church leadership know the details of what happened on the day in question. DSS also didn't have much luck in their investigation and were told that the school didn't have video surveillance for any days prior to the one a parent walked in on (they actually did but didn't "realize" that until after the DSS investigation ended). They also have not been able to explain what they're doing differently now to prevent something like this from happening again. The facilities are nice but that's really the only positive I can think of. Also, they built nice facilities for the church to use on Sunday but the classrooms are nothing special and lack toys and/or anything educational. They don't make any attempt to teach the students so your children will be left to entertain themselves all day. Constant billing errors and little effort or ability to get it right. They will make promises that they have a new director/staff and they're purchasing curriculum but I've not seen any improvements and after finding out that one of the teachers was arrested from another parent I no longer trust that what happened to our kids didn't rise to the level of abuse. For reference, these are all kids under two years old and no one seemed to have any concerns about the classroom until a parent walked in and saw their child being handled roughly. Don't make the mistake I did, I'm happily driving to Anderson every morning to make sure that my child is in a safe environment. It's an unfortunate situation all around but the most concerning part is feeling like the growing place tried to protect themselves instead of letting an investigation actually determine what happened. I also now have to wonder what transpired, how long this went on and what the long term repercussions will be from this time period. Really disappointed in myself as a parent for choosing this daycare but also don't want others to go through the same sad situation.
