Updating because a lot of the climbs are dependent on being a certain height. It's possible to train strength on certain types of moves but it's not possible to train to become bigger. Because of the way climbs are set, a V4 for a person 5'9" becomes a V6 for a person under 5'3" and this means that there are very few opportunities for smaller people to bridge the gaps in their skill sets. Average height for American women is 5'3" and with 51% of the population being female, I'd like to see more climbs that rely on technique than length.

My only complaint is that the building wasn't big enough. I used to be a frequent at a place in Georgia called stone summit. They had shoe rentals, chalk, and enough different projects to keep anyone busy Enjoyed the workout. They were on the more difficult side but still enjoyable to attempt Would recommend for anyone who does bouldering Definitely brought back good memories

Coastal Climbing has amazing staff and amazing routes. They have a great variety of walls from slab to cave and even have a Kilter and Tension board. If you're in Charleston and want to climb, this is the place.

Real friendly staff, very reasonable and good prices, plenty to do, and not much to complain about given the fact theres no where else to climb

As much as I wanted to love climbing here, I was not very satisfied with this climbing gym. There is very little climbing offered, being only bouldering, for a price that is equal to any other gym I've been to that offered twice the bouldering and included tall wall climbing, as well as exercise classes and equipment. Weightlifting equipment is barred off to guests, only 5 parking spaces available, and you have to manually move mats while climbing, leading to a queue of waiting for others to finish using one to climb yourself. Memberships are far too costly for the services offered and cost more than any of the other gyms I'd visited previously yet offering far less, even with the premium membership. Being the only indoor climbing gym around, it's a shame that the gym doesn't upgrade to keep up with the rising popularity of climbing.

We love Coastal climbing! My son has worked with Hannah no lesson than 10 times and she is such a perfect trainer for him. Encouraging but she definitely doesn’t go easy on him. We love her!

Their very limited hours and climbs blow my mind. With zero competition in the area, I think they're able to get away with having everything so sub-par - this climbing gym would not do very well in most other places of the country.

We drove 7 hours away after being told our daughter could climb. Told us she wasn't allowed upon arrival.

Had a ton of fun. Everyone was nice and the place was very clean. I'm in town for work and will hopefully be back to visit while here. Wasn't to terribly packed and the routes were well laid out. A bit more challenging than where I'm from but it was a nice change of pace.

My 10 year old grandson and 6 year old twin granddaughters find climbing challenging and fun! Jason is so patient and encouraging and is great with children! The kids beg to go climbing with Jason whenever they visit.

It is a very good climbing gym. The problems are very fun, a bit more difficult than average, so be ready to climb slightly below your level. The atmosphere is supportive and warm. There is a treadwall, kilter boards, and also a nice workout area. Suggested. I had lots of fun during my time in Charleston.

First time to try coastal climbing. Place was very busy so not able to try out all the surfaces. Most are on an angle and require lots of upper body strength. Flooring is all cushioned and walls not high so ropes and harness not required. Really enjoyed the tread wall which is a moving rock climbing apparatus. Easy to adjust speed. Parking horrible but we found a lot just a couple blocks down by the church where you can pay online to park.

I have not climbed before but wanted to get involved in the gym, so I took a quick class before the gym opened in the morning. The instructor was great, the class was personalized, and the price was great for a private class. It was a great way to learn about the gym, learn new skills to work on, and be introduced to the environment.
