Booked a room at 250 Spring St Charleston SC on 7/13/2025 with stayforless.com
When I arrived at this hotel, a black lady at desk acknowledged the booking and scanned my credit card as a hold for deposit which is normal. Then they charged me for same one night stay for $107 that I paid for with booking the same day and that posted 2 days later. They stay wasn't so great either, but paying the hotel twice is NOT acceptable. The black lady at the service desk was rude upon arrival and it went downhill from there. I have disputed the charge with IHG (parent hotel chain) and they wrote that they would respond within 24 hours. It's a week later. I have a case # filed but the invalid charge was never reversed. I stay in Charleston regularly but never at this hotel again!

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience. I had a confirmed reservation through IHG, and as a Diamond member, I expected a certain level of service. I drove nearly 8 hours, confirmed my reservation around 9 PM, and arrived at 11 PM only to be told it was canceled — without notice or explanation. No one made an effort to accommodate me or help resolve the issue. I ended up sleeping in my car that night. This is completely unacceptable and not the kind of treatment I expect from a brand I’ve trusted for years.

I just wish that there had been enough parking at the hotel. I had to park in the parking garage across the street. Thank goodness it doesn't cost anything if you take your parking ticket and get it validated at the front desk.

Room, bed, and bathroom were spotless. Bed was comfy! Check-in was smooth! Breakfast was good. The pool was awesome! They sell wine/beer and crazy amount of ice-cream products. Staff were outstanding!!! Centrally located to food, beaches, conferences!

Holiday Inn Express Downtown Charleston – Spring Street Review
Our recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express on Spring Street in downtown Charleston was underwhelming, especially for a brand that usually sets a higher standard.
Let’s start with the welcome—or lack thereof. The doorman was more interested in lecturing guests about luggage cart usage than actually helping with bags. Not exactly the Southern hospitality we expected. I even shared this feedback with Juanita via text, but nothing changed.
Room 412 had its own quirks. The door wouldn’t close without a full slam. I ended up using conditioner to lubricate the frame—seriously.
Staff interactions were hit or miss. Most were polite when required but certainly not going out of their way. Check-in was smooth but far from memorable.
Parking is a headache. Spaces are extremely limited. If you leave, you’re sent to park three stories up at a Whole Foods garage. Another reminder why it pays to be a Diamond Elite member—but even then, expect inconvenience.
TV setup? No guide—just start flipping channels like it’s 2005.
Breakfast was a letdown. Cooking seemed rushed, and—this one stung—no cinnamon rolls on Monday. That’s a signature IHG staple. They reappeared Tuesday, but by then we were packing up to leave. When they did show up, they were still partially frozen. Not exactly worth the wait.
Location-wise, don’t expect much within walking distance unless you’re heading to McDonald’s. No nearby shops, no restaurants, and no tourist sights in the immediate area.
All in all, this location needs attention to detail and a serious hospitality tune-up. We made the most of it, but we’ll likely choose another hotel next time we’re in Charleston.

:Very special checkin. As i spproached the front desk i was greeted with a beautiful smile and a "May i help you"? Gave her my name and she immediately found my reservation and gave me a welcome speech. She is a 10+ and a great asset to this motel. Went to our room and opened the door to a large beautifully decorated room. Also the maids had done a marvelous job cleaning. The bed was comfortableHad a perfect night.

Wasn't to pleased with location. Parking was crazy, as we had to park in a garage and walk back and forth to validate a parking pass every time you went out anywhere. Breakfast was great! The ladies working the breakfast area was so sweet and friendly. Kept everything filled and ready for the guest.Rooms: Rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable.Safety: Seemed to be very safe. Walking distance to several restaurants.

We had a very pleasent stay in the Hotel which is not so far a away from the city center but very good to reach by car. There are parking spots directly at the hotel including a good American breakfast and a very good service. You can reach the city center by foot in round about 30 minutes. Looking forward to out next stay.Rooms: Rooms are good and mostly clean.

If you can’t understand the basic standards of running a hotel then you shouldn’t be in business. Threadbare towels, disgusting. We had a room with a connecting door and you could hear every word. It’s more a 2 star property.

The hotel was okay. I came here for Memorial Day and on their website it said the buffet opens at 6:30 am. Right now as I’m writing this it’s currently 6:40am and the doors are still closed. Really upset about this! Please open breakfast the same time as y’all say on the website!

Problems checking out. They do not have enough parking at the hotel. Have to use a parking garage for the overflow. They do validate for the parking. It is just a pain. Doubt I will stay there again.

Do not stay here! I switched from a different hotel to here, because their pool was closed. When I checked in at the Holiday Inn Express, they informed me that their pool was also closed for the weekend we were there staying. This was listed no where when I booked. They did end up giving me a refund which I appreciate, but it just continued to go downhill from there. We stayed in a room with a King size bed and a pull out couch bed (this was all they had available). When we went to go get sheets and blankets for the pull out bed, they had NONE. They also did not have any additional pillows. Apparently they were "All out of pillows & blankets" how does that even happen at a hotel?? Then, when we requested more towels (there were only 2 in the room) they again said "We are all out of towels and will not have any more for the entire weekend." AGAIN how does a hotel run out of towels??? Mind you both of those very reasonable asks, we tried to call the front desk from our room. The front desk DOES NOT ANSWER their phone. We had to go down there to ask for everything, that should have been provided in the first place. It was just mindboggling. So yes we had to share 2 towels & had no blankets, just top sheets and no pillows on the pull out bed. It was just insane! Stay at one of the other hotels in this area, not this one - TRUST ME!
