Easiest bank to hack in south Carolina. Just now acquired ability to turn your card on and off. Not open Saturdays. But they do give back every penny stolen from you, also the dude Justin , banker, he's awesome. Very patient and actually has a senseof humor. Great as second bank.

When I went here I tried to deposit money so she takes my money and then asks so how much you got ...what? then just walked away now I'm sitting here 15 minutes nothing hasn't said anything to me...so almost another 15 minutes go by as I have been pressing the call button so she finally comes over and says oh our computers are down trying to get things working like wouldn't it have been nice of you to speak to us and let us know..but didn't and then another 10 minutes to get my card back.

From First Federal to South State bank this has been my go to branch for years. I use the ATM weekly because I have to have folding money on me!! With the ability to snap pics of checks now, you really don't have to use the lobby for much of anything anymore. I did stop in twice last month. Once to get more cash than normal and wanted big bills. Another time to add my mom as a signer to my accounts. It's a perfectly fine small local branch that's convenient for me!

Friendly staff, quick but professional service and very personable. Had a minor banking error due to miscommunication within my family and went in to see what could be done. The manager listened to my problem, checked account and confirmed my findings. She reversed a charge for me so I could make payment to keep account in good standing. I greatly appreciated it as some banks wont even take the time to hear you out and just rack up profits from fees. Not South State and that goes a long way for me as a customer in todays economy. This is the branch I prefer to use.

Absolutely zero benefits with banking at South State. Closed my account today, after almost 30 years with SS and First Federal. It's always understaffed and I was completely ignored by the one customer service guy while waiting to be seen today. Unlike most customer friendly banks, SS cannot offer free checks, cashiers checks, competitive card rates, adequate notary services ( was declined today for a document previously accepted a few years back) or interest on everyday checking accounts. Only the bank benefits from your business. Was told by a manager, upon him receiving a negative survey feedback, that he can't possibly offer any of these standard courtesies given by many other banks. There are just too many better options elsewhere to stay loyal just for the sake of being loyal.

Don’t try calling them, no one will answer their automated system. Endless hold for 5 to 10 minutes. They prefer you to do all your banking yourself by computer even though their “app” is down 50% of the time!

You can't make cash deposits at most of the atms. Stone Age bank practices.

I recently had a fantastic experience at this branch. Associates Cindy, Susan & Danielle handled an exceptionally busy lobby with grace, manners, humor and professionalism. As someone who works in a customer service-based industry, I was thoroughly impressed by how many customers they greeted by name as they walked in the door or stood in line; they weren't just reciting names from a computer screen. They've taken the time to show an investment in the people who trust them with their important business. This particular visit fell on a Friday at lunchtime on the first of the month, so there was a crowded lobby. They truly made an effort to engage with everyone to keep the line from growing irritable. It was really nice. I have been a South State Bank Customer for almost 15 years, and I have never considered a "home branch," but this location will now be the one I visit as often as possible.

Certainly the most accessable of the branches to get off of and then back on to from Rivers Ave, and the most well staffed amongst the branches I've withdrew from. Got a little prepaid debit underway for my financially faltering friend through ELAN, a high APR and his history didn't exactly thrill me -- this should be interesting. The outside ATM needs updating with software as friendly and graphically pleasing as NT. The thickest touch screen glass I've pecked upon. For it would be the envy of the biggest and mightiest Coke bottles of all time. The tellers do give me treats for my dogs, they've taken notice that I don't like lolly pops. They remind me of old guys in white shirts and pouting children and leather chairs with bottles of blue liquid and extra large popsicle sticks reflecting off the mirrors, and the smell of talcum powder and rubbing alcohol. What I do like, is to flick my finger through the hard paper pages of the home equity loan brochures set out on those cheap four legged collapsible tables. The ones in all banks with the cheap company colored table cloth -- in Royal Blue. I do this just long enough to consume two cups of a excellent local coffee in a smallish carafe that they will not fill up twice as I remain completely and totally undetected.
