Woah. I’d avoid except in an emergency. Never encountered someone so rude and weird in my life.A small mark-up is understandable given the location and rent I’m sure they pay. But the prices here are unconscionable.Simple pours are priced like they are extremely special, nearly double the price of any bourbon or mezcal you’d find elsewhere.

Oldest liquor store in Charleston. Small and full of character. Limited offerings. A quick stop is all you need.

The man at the counter was very rude and after an exchange of words, we chose to move on to The Griffon for our drinks. This guy has no customer service skills whatsoever and if he’s not the owner, the owner may wish to find someone else to be the face of their business.

I've seen some of the reviews were rough but I had nothing but a good experience at a place with history and local flavor. If you want generic then order online.

I wish I could remember who helped us - we were there Sunday June 11th around noon. The guy who helped us gave us samples based on what we asked for and was very personable. It was $26 for a 4 pack (16oz) IPA which seems a little pricey but great customer service.

Very rude attendant. Would not look at you when you spoke and unkind when asked questions about the products they carried.

Cool beer & liquor shop right near the waterfront. I think it's actually the oldest liquor store in America! They have a few whales in there.. Of course, whales can be pricey. Still, definitely worth a visit. The friendly proprietor has expansion plans in mind too. Good luck!

Prices on most whiskey was easily double the price of anywhere else I've seen. And yes, I shop in small local businesses so i know they can't compete with big box retialers, but I've never seen this big of a gap before. Cool spot to see and walk around, though.

3 red dots means liquor store in South Carolina. This is the longest, continuously running liquor store in the country, since 1680. Wow!

After visiting Rainbow Row, my girlfriend and I stopped by The Tavern to see the oldest liquor store in America (signaled by the three red dots). We didn't end up getting too much but did pick up a small shooter of White Lightning Palmetto Moonshine which was fun. The cashier was very friendly and we had the same wallet :) I recommend stopping by.

Rename this place and call it the Let Down at Rainbow Road.My husband, an avid beer & liquor enthusiast, was looking forward to checking this place out. First off, two entrances. we walked through the entrance on the street corner. Walked in and through. We said to each other, is this it? I made a comment to the young man working at the cash register, " I am surprised you don't make shirts and capitalize on being the oldest liquor store in America." His response, " Oh we do. Next door. It's all a part ofthe original building/tavern." My husband looked at me with a little glimmer in his eyes that there was still hope this could be a cool place. We walked in next door. The man working looked grumpy and his shirt was too short, his belly was just hanging out. No hype. Nothing special happening here. I tried to engage in conversation with the guy and he wasn't having it. Some chic was trying to sell him cans of beer without labels. Things were overpriced. We left feeling very let down.
