Went in to get the transmission rebuilt on my 98’ SHO. Was a very quick turn around time, and reasonably priced for the work. They have a very high attention to detail and photograph everything when diagnosing the vehicle to address issues you may not have known. Frank made sure to call and update as they went along for approvals for work and eta’s. After getting my vehicle back I ended up having a different issue pop up for the intake and valve covers. They worked with me on the pricing despite the problem with finding parts and got it back on the road again. She’s running like a top now with no issues, would highly recommend the gentleman at Cottman for transmission and general auto repair.

I was looking for a transmission shop to repair a widely known issue with our Mercedes. Cottman's was the only place their send their Mercedes with the error code our car had. They kept me up to date on the repairs being done and when it was ready to be picked up. We're very happy with the quality of work and how fast they got it done.

Be very careful when dealing with this company. When my vehicle arrived, I was told it needed a new battery — even though it was starting up fine before. Wanting to give them my business based on a recommendation, I authorized the replacement.
The battery alone cost $362, which I found excessive, plus $42 for “shop supplies” (items like a ratchet or pliers), and a $190 diagnostic fee. After taxes, the total came to $614, essentially for nothing of value.
When I asked about repairing my transmission — which was the whole reason I went there — I was given five separate invoices totaling $7,200 for a rebuild. That’s outrageous. I’ve been in the service industry for 15 years and have never encountered such egregious pricing or business practices.
My advice: think twice before doing business with Cotton Transmission. I would not recommend them based on my experience.

I had.my car towed to Cottmans and they did a thorough diagnostic on the engine and where able to find the issue. The diagnostic cost more then I thought it would but because the vehicle had sat for over a year Robert explained that they needed to do an intensive diagnostic in order to check everything. They stored my car safely until I was able to pick it up and provided payment options. Robert and Frank were accommodating and kept me updated on their findings. I would recommend their services to anyone.

My 11 yo hyundai was not feeling well, after a couple locations that couldn't help, cottman transmission was able to diagnose and repair rather quickly. Not sure if the price I paid was an average cost, but it was less than what the original diagnosis cost would have been.

Thank you all again for making me feel so comfortable and keeping me updated on everything you were finding while working on my truck, My truck ride better than it did when I first got it. I can’t believe it ride so smooth, you all are truly an amazing team. I enjoy the atmosphere and the teamwork, your communication skills are outstanding you never left me in the dark and I appreciate all of you for that, Thank you for not taking advantage of me because I’m a woman like some mechanics.

Honesty. Constant communication during repairs. Compared to dealership lies and deception, no question Cottman is the place to trust with any needed diagnosis and repairs.

Thank you Frank and Cottman! Needed to allow some time before posting this review as I was in disbelief my issue was trully fixed. A lengthy review, but necessary! I was in the process of trying to find a new car as I was told mine could stop working at any time. It was a frustrating back and forth few months of uncertainty and and car issue. Between Midas and Action Transmission I was told that my car needed major repairs and a NEW TRANSMISSION, which was eventually Not the case at all.
Frank, I am grateful for your patience, Excellent customer service and Honesty, when other businesses were not! The team at Cottman Transmission are excellent and HONEST. Frank took time to answer each question and concern, he followed up and kept me informed from start to finish! I am certain I would not have My car if Cottman did not successfully diagnose and fixed my issue. My car was in great working condition until Midas performed maintenance service and CV Axle replacement. Immediately after that the problem began. It started with an occasional drip of fuel, which worsened with time. When I initially addressed the issue with Midas I was told to return my car to the shop so they can check. They said it was just some residual fluid from the oil change and work they previously performed, and the area just needed cleaning. They assured me that would resolve the issue. Fast forward 3+ months later the dripping worsened with no resolution from Midas even after returning my car to the shop two more times and was told a warranteed Axel was installed. The manager said they had no other resolution/ explanation for the leaking and my issue is transmission related, so it needed Transmission service. Dunn Right Automotive was my next stop, they diagnosed it as an incorrectly install part, said I needed a new Transmission Seal. Paid them for a diagnostic and installation and was assured they fixed the issue. A week later still leaking, so returned to them. At that point they surprisingly informed me of a list of other issues they claimed they missed previously when they first diagnosed. It went from bad to worse, so much uncertainty I did not know who was being honest. At this point I was spending money, no transportation to get to/from work with no resolution to the issue. When I took my car to Cottman, I was told I DID NOT HAVE TRANSMISSION ISSUES, NO DOUGHNUT SIZE HOLE UNDER MY CAR and More. The issue causing my leaking was due to an improper install of CV Axle which damaged the Axle oil Seal. I'm providing all these details because quality, reliable and honest service is difficult to find and minor repairs from unqualified and/or dishonest people can create addional unexpected costly repairs, Beware!
