November 11, 2024- Do Not Use this Shop!!!!!
If you want to deal with a professional who communicates and listens and does great work on your car DO NOT use Body work by Franks! In my 42 years of dealing with people in any capacity I have never been disrespected as I was by Frank. I had minor damage to the fender over my tire on my SClass Mercedes. It needed to have the dent popped out and painted and the lower part of the door realigned . He painted and the was too light . He also had a gap which I pointed it out.. He said he would repaint the next day which was a Saturday . I called at 2pm to check the status of the car. He yelled saying “ why was I calling him” that he would call when the car was ready. I hung up the phone so I would not curse at this ignorant and abusive business owner. I waited until 6pm and called. The call went to voicemail. My husband drove me to his shop and it was closed. He closed without calling to let me know that I would not receive my car. I called his cell to let him know that I was at his shop and wanted to know the status of the car.. This nut job then told me that he had to drive an hour away to another paint shop and was running behind. Instead of letting me know that afternoon the status. Very unprofessional and I would never recommend him for anything . I picked up my car the next day with bonding material still on it, unpainted and not aligned. Save yourself unnecessary frustration and use ANY shop other than Franks Auto body on North Main Street Columbia SC.

I loved the work he did on my scraped back fender back when he was on Gervais Street, so I took my cracked front bumper that I wasn’t sure the insurance companies would pay for to him. The experience was a complete disaster! He doesn’t take credit cards, but now he doesn’t even take a check. He took a check for the grille part, but when my husband brought the car in for the repair, he insisted on cash. My husband had to drive miles to the ATM. Then he overcharged by $80, so my husband had to drive back to get the refund. Now he won’t cooperate with the insurance company to itemize the work, so we may have to eat the $800 repair!
