If you are trying to get a refund on a purchased warranty after trading in your car, GOOD LUCK. The sales manager is hard to get in touch with I've had to stop by multiple times in STORE just to talk to him because calling and leaving multiple voicemails doesn't work. It seems like they are quick to contact you when purchasing your vehicle but after you buy it, they don't care. I submitted for a refund on 9/1/2023 after trading in my VW and I was given a piece of paper and was told the third party was responsible for sending the pro rated tire/wheel warranty check and it should be in the mail in about 3-4 weeks and that information was false! After waiting so so long I called drive easy (warranty company) they said that additional forms needed to be filled out and signed which was then emailed to me, (had I not called them this process would have never been started cause they needed MY signature to proceed with the cancelation) and I was told that McDaniels VW was actually the ones responsible for dispersing the check and to of course reach out the sales manager for further questions....Well here we are over two and a half months later, still no information, no check, no call back and I called twice before deciding to write the review they've been asking for, and I also left another voicemail days ago with no returned call. if it was a petty amount I wouldn't be so frustrated. but its $800 that they are sitting on. the least they could do is return a call and give an update. I've been patient about it for so long but at this point something needs to be done.. truthfully, take your business elsewhere. I do not recommend.

Stopped in to get my tires checked since the pressure light was on. I walked in but was able to get on the books for an appointment the same day. Great service but prices are in line with most specialty service locations. Not a bad thing but more than I'm willing to pay.

I was caught by surprise with the new pricing. Ended up getting the lowest 10K service. Upon completion, my tires were never rotated and my oil change interval was never reset. 2 of the 6 times on the pamphlet didn't get completed and I paid over $150 for the service. Additionally, I checked the oil the next morning and it was semi dark in color. As if the oil filter was never changed but only the engine oil was drained and replenished. For the price and customer experience, I don’t see the value of their pricing.

The service rep was kind, helpful, and was considerate of my time. She also made me very comfortable and was attentive to my needs. And most important, she kept appraised of my vehicle status with periodic updates.

I purchased a certified pre-owned VW Atlas in October 2022. This weekend while out of the town the coolant alert came on. An out of town dealership advised me that I have a leak. I called to schedule an appoint to get it repaired and was told that the earlier they could look at the issue is October 6. This is just for them to look into the issue, not even repair it. I requested to speak with the service manager and he was not available. I spoke with the sales manager, and he compared my situation to that of his having to get his oiled changed someplace else due to the backlog. My engine overheating and blowing up is exactly the same as him having to get his oil changed.

Gave a deposit for a new car that was supposed to arrive in 12 weeks. The 12 weeks became seven months. At no point in these 7 months did anyone from McDaniels deign to pick up the phone and give us an update on the status of the order. Never. Not once. In the end we gave up and asked for our money back (a whole new round of unreturned calls and "the check is in the mail" promises later, we did get it). Basically we loaned them a chunk of money at zero interest for seven months, LOL. I understand there are lingering issues with the supply chain and don't fault McDaniels for the fact that the car did not materialize. Also, each time we reached out, they were polite (key word: WE). But the whole "take the money and go incommunicado for seven months" part of it is inexcusable.

Let me preface this review by saying: Yes, I did wait too long to get my oil changed, however that is the only thing I did wrong here. In June of 2022 I came in for a routine service for my 2013 VW Beetle, they said they could not complete the oil change due to a stripped oil plug and a cracked oil pan. I paid $660 to have them repair it and change the oil in my car. Fast forward to 08/26/23, I take my car to Take5 to get my oil changed. They immediately turn me away after pulling down the duster plate and seeing my oil pan was cracked and the drain plug was stripped. On 08/29/23, I bring my car into VW and spoke to the service manager asking what solution they were going to offer me, since clearly the repair had not been done. Mr. Joy said he would take a look at it when they had time but he can't promise anything. I call on 08/30/23 and Stephany Boney says my car has not been looked at but she will call me as soon as they have an update. Mrs. Boney calls me 1 hour later saying the drain plug is not the one they install and the drain plugs come pre-built into the oil pans. She said that Take5 has misrepresented themselves and started the oil change and realized they couldn't work on VW and stopped. This is not true, I stayed in my car for the entirety of the time I interacted with Take5 and they immediately refused, I also have documentation stating that. Isn't it odd that the drain plug is different? It is almost like they didn't fix it the first time and now are looking to place blame on someone else, right? What would be the reason for Take5 removing the stripped drain plug and replacing it with something else? They wouldn't. I tell Stephany I would give her a call back in a few minutes, so I could keep my decorum. I told Stephany that I would purchase my own CarFax to prove no one else has worked on my car and bring them in on 08/31/23, if no solution was offered after that I would contact a lawyer. She immediately stopped me and told me she could no longer speak to me. I have my father call the dealership and speak with Mr. Joy to see what solution could be offered after that point, they immediately shut him down and say there is no solution and they would not speak to him. I have not had one good interaction with Mrs.Boney or this dealership. They refuse to be wrong and refuse to admit their mistake. Run in the opposite direction of literally any other dealership, specifically ones that are not owned by McDaniel auto group. These people are extremely unreliable, untrustworthy and dirty. I am now going to have to pay to have the same repair done elsewhere, which I am fine with since I will never have to deal with McDaniels auto group, Mrs. Boney (the service representative ), or Mr. Joy (the service manager) ever again. In response to the owners response: There is no issue with any other work I have had done on my vehicle BESIDES the work that you FAILED to do. The only thing the company needs to be held responsible for is their failure of completing the repairs I paid for, which seems to be a common theme at this location. I have no interest in ever coming back here unless it is to get a refund. As stated previously, I would provide CarFax and other documentation proving and solidifying the fact that I had no work done between the repairs your shop “did” and the issue I had earlier this week. The only way there would be “aftermarket” parts on my car is because you’re service department failed to do the service I paid over $650 for, the first time. Have a great day.

I didn’t think it was possible, but McDaniels VW is even worse than Midlands VW. I took my VW for service, and for a common issue that has plagued every Tiguan built, there was no attempt to get VW to cover it under warranty. They won’t touch the car for anything even to plug a headlight in unless you pay a $200 diagnostic fee. On top of all that the dealership is dirty with cockroaches crawling in the service waiting area. Don’t come here expecting service, you won’t find it.

Mark was a great help with buying our new cross sport. Even though Killian is bit of a drive for us, we would definitely buy from him again.

Their service department did not provide the repairs they were paid to do. When confronted with their failure to repair they blamed another repair shop and would not provide solutions to their mistakes and failures. I will drive 250 miles out of my way to avoid purchasing goods or services from McDaniels Volkswagen or any other businesses associated with them.

I want to begin this review by stating that my ONLY reason for giving a rating above a 1 is because of Mark, the salesman that I worked with. He was kind, informative, and sought advisement when needed. I greatly appreciated his help and would gladly work with him in the future under different circumstances. He truly was great to work with. I also had very pleasant interactions with Leroy, a client advisor. HOWEVER, I was extremely displeased by my interaction with the sales managers. I was promised $500 on my trade in when I made the deal but due to some factors was not able to collect that until after the fact. Upon returning to the dealership to collect this promised amount, I was told that I would only receive $300. Chad, the general sales manager, stated that there was no evidence of the promised amount, despite my signature on the deal. After asking him to find the paperwork detailing the agreement, he described it as being inconclusive, despite clear written word that I would be receiving $500. When my partner and I questioned this, he said that he "did not want the car" and that I would not receive my promised amount. He spoke to us both as if we were children and refused to acknowledge the written deal. I signed the papers for $300 simply to leave the building and exit the conversation, as I felt extremely disrespected and taken advantage of.Entering the dealership today, my partner expressed to the salesmen and sales manager that he was prepared to also make a deal regarding a used car on the lot valuing $50,000. It is truly unfortunate that McDaniels lost that sale over a measly $200. I am appalled by the interaction I endured at McDaniels VW today and will in no way recommend them as a dealership to anyone.

RUN! They make assumptions as a business that are very questionable.Let me tell you my story and hopefully you don't get robbed of a battery.I replaced my car's battery one week ago when it was giving me problems. I decided to call the dealer thinking they were an honest business. I told the service desk everything. I told her that after buying a brand new battery, the vehicle continued to give me problems. They told me that they "had" to test it with one of their batteries. After they charged me $300 for an extra VW battery they are charging me a $30 fee to obtain MY battery back. They did not inform me of this fee. I told them it was a brand new battery so obviously under warranty. They are charging me for my own battery that I have purchased. They won't give me my battery back unless I pay them money. That's right, they are holding my battery for ransom. Sounds like theft. Last time coming here. Don't waste your money.

DO NOT GO TO MCDANIELS VW!I bought two cars from them, one year apart, and mostly had them serviced there. In September 2022, they replaced a sump pump and the EVAP canister. In July 2023, a check engine light came on, for which they diagnosed a fuel leak sensor problem. Diagnosis fee $155, waived if I did the repair there. Quote to fix: $436. I chose to not do the repairs there, bought the parts from VW, and proceeded to do the work. After I took off the wheel well cover, I saw the electrical connection to the sensor hanging in the wheel well. Plugged it back in, cleared the codes, no more issues. This whole problem was caused by shabby workmanship on the sump pump issue.I will wait until Monday when the service manager returns from vacation to, hopefully, recover the diagnostic fee and the cost of the parts, but I want this to be a cautionary tale. I would not recommend that anyone get any work done at McDaniels VW in Columbia, SC. Had I not known a bit about car repairs, I would have been at least $436 out of pocket for nothing.Ignore at your own risk or cost.Update on 8/10/23: reply from VWoA (abridged):“The Service Manager shared that you brought your vehicle in for a diagnosis. Once the diagnosis was completed, McDaniels shared their findings and recommended repair process. Had the recommendations been followed, there is a possibility that the most recent remedy or repair would have been covered under the spare parts 12 months or 12,000-mile (whichever occurs first) warranty. While it is possible that re-connecting a sensor is all the vehicle required, it is also equally possible that the sensor wasn't the only problem and issues may persist leading to the check engine light coming on again. Unfortunately, as you chose to perform your own repairs, there is no way to confirm either scenario.”

I purchased my 22 Atlas in April of 22. I have been taking it to McDaniels for routine maintenance. Twice the oil filter seal hasn't replaced and has caused me to need a timing cover, valve cover, and pcv valve replacement. My Atlas has been at service department since 8/2/23, apparently parts are on back order. I have explained to them and VW Customer Care, that the Atlas is my only means of transportation. I have asked for a loaner, rental reimbursement, and rental assistance. The answer has been no to every request made as McDaniels doesn't participate in VW loaner/rental assistance program. My vehicle is shop due to their negligence, with no expected repair date, and they refuse to assist me with transportation.

They had my vehicle for a couple months waiting on back ordered parts for the dpf system. They told me they had a loner car but it was as conveniently in available the entire time until the day they got the parts in. Picked up the liner car and two days later my car was fixed. I'm calling BS on that part of it . A few months later the engine light on my car came on again with the same code as the first time around ( dpf) when I called back to talk to them about it the manager told me they will no longer work on my car . After talking to corporate, the work is still under warranty so the only reason to not work my car was because they didn't like the fact that I kept calling once a week getting updates on my car and the status of the loner car. Like I said , the liner car was unavailable almost the entire time , each week I called I was 4 or 5th on the list for the loner. But miraculously the day they called me to tell me the parts came in, the loner was available too. Pretty shady business going on at this place. They also told me that they have the only certified master mechanic for VW in the state of SC. Come to find out that is not true , according to corporate.
