The Newberry Academy 6th grade Social Studies and the 10th grade US History class visited on 01/31/2024. The tour was very informative and tour guides were great. If you attend, don't be in a rush because there is so much to see. Wonderful gift shop and easy access and great parking. Tks again for preserving our military past!!!

What a pleasant surprise this was. Mrs. Jacqueline Banton is a phenomenal tour guide!! She is very informative and has the spirit of a champion. Mrs. Banton made an awesome experience much more pleasant with her passionate personality. The museum itself is progressing into something South Carolinians can be proud of. I encourage all to visit and ask for the best Tour Guide ever, Mrs. Banton.

Had an amazing visit to the museum, can’t believe I have never visited! Miss Jackie showed us many of the new displays and it was really exciting to learn the history of the museum and see the updates they are making to better reflect SC history and give voices to those whose stories have not been widely told. The museum was much bigger than I thought it would be, and had some very unique artifacts along with interactive displays. Could have easily spent an entire day there, and would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys learning new things! Thank y’all for a fantastic visit (and the hot sauce was a huge hit like I’m sure the blanket will be!!)

I road for the Toys for Tots motorcycle ride Sunday the 3rd of December. They began the ride from the South Carolina Military Museum. I toured the facility while waiting for the ride to begin. The building is filled with historic vehicles and items captured from various wars our state and nation were involved with. Would recommend this facility if you're interested in our state's and nation's wartime past. I was able to get free access to tour the building. Definitely worth the time to go check our history for yourself.

EVERYONE should go visit this treasure of a museum. My boyfriend and I came to visit this museum for the history and we will keep coming back for Jackie! She was so kind and eloquent and even though it was a self guided tour she didn’t hesitate to give us the best introduction possible! She’s a very open minded individual and she is definitely the right person to be working there. We loved every part of the museum and we will definitely be coming back for more. A special thank you to Chris for keeping things interesting and I loved the puzzle game!

We had some extra time and decided to stop by. We were very impressed by the amount of weapons, models and vehicles at the museum. It was great and my kids age 11, 8, and 5 loved their visit. The lady at the front desk was wonderful and we really appreciated her welcome. Thank you for a great visit, we can't wait to visit again.Oh! We also purchased some coffee and hot sauce made by local veterans!

This museum is huge! We struggled to find our way in- navigation took us to a bank parking lot next door and John thought he could park and walk in, but I insisted we go out and around the block- good thing we did! You enter in through a guard gate- they check ID's and direct you to where you park for the museum. The museum is ice cold inside- if you run chilly, take a jacket. John spent about an hour and half inside going through the various displays and that's fast for him! One of John's favorite things is military history- he's Jeopardy level on his knowledge too. I went through a little faster- reading about the items that intrigued me and skimming or skipping over the rest. They have an impressive collection of vehicles and historic weaponry. Staff was exceptionally friendly and informative too!

We were in town visiting family and decided to check out this little gem of a museum to get out of the august heat. We brought 7 kids ages 4-14. All I can say is wow. We were really surprised by how big it was, very deceiving. There were so many great artifacts and vehicles on display. The weapons display is extensive. This place is great for adults and kids. The front desk person was really nice and great with our kids. This is definitely a must see for anyone interested in history and it's free! You won’t be disappointed. Donations are accepted.

Do not let the building size fool you...this place is huge! We had a wonderful time seeing all the history within these walls. Kid friendly and plenty of rest areas/bathrooms. It is free but donations would be appreciated! They have wonderful kid events and camps to make the whole family feel included. The amount of historic weaponry is incredible. All artifacts have accurate and detailed descriptions. I highly encourage you to make this stop during your visit to Columbia.
