They let my Dixie go home early- she died as soon as I got her home- they got their payment- but I think they cared about money before they cared about her life- can’t judge a book by its cover- I payed all that money for her to die on my hands as soon as I got her home- so busy worried their high end estimate before they were concerned with the wellbeing of my service dog!!

I had never been to Columbia when I found my 15-yr old cat in terrible distress at 4am on a Sunday. We were 1.5 hrs from the nearest veterinary ER in either Athens or Columbia, and I chose to go to SCVSEC because someone there answered the phone (the UGA ER just had an automated message). Sebastian had been sick for a while, but our local vets said it was just cystitis every time I brought him in. I prayed someone at SCVSEC would be able to help, and I am SO GLAD we ended up there.Everyone from the reception staff to Dr. Kelly and her team was wonderfully patient and compassionate as I learned that Sebastian actually had a large tumor in his bladder. It was unlikely that an oncologist could do much, and even if they could, he was - to put it nicely - a “very difficult” patient; not a good candidate for extended treatment. Dr. Kelly talked me through every step of the way and even took the time to do some extra imaging when I needed to be 100% sure before making a decision.Saying goodbye to my best buddy in a strange city at 7am on a Sunday morning was one of the lowest moments of my life so far. But the people at SCVSEC did everything in their power to make sure he was comfortable, I had all the information necessary to feel confident in my decision, and we were both supported in our time of need. These are exactly the kinds of people you hope you’ll find in your darkest moments, and I cannot thank them enough for their expertise, professionalism, and compassion.

Avoid this place at all costs. They will weigh you and measure you , and tailor the bill accordingly. If there is a possibility of getting an xtra $1 out of you , it will be done. If there is no such possibility, it will be created. You will never get the low end of the estimate, it is a ploy , designed to get your signature. Even the high end is not The End. That is not to say , that they do not have any good people working for them , they do. There are even some professionals there , that actually know what they are doing . But when all said and done , it is a business, and not a place for help. It is designed to catch at your most vulnerable moments, miscommunication is rampant ( it leads to confusion) and you will ALWAYS pay a lot more , then you think you will or they will hold your pet hostage. My bill came to be way over 10k and there were no complications with his case. Lucky me , imagine if there actually were complications?!

While my visit to SCVSEC was for a cat mom’s worst nightmare, I am ever so thankful for Dr. Dietrich and her team. My sweet kitty took a rapid turn for the worse at thirteen years old, and my husband and I knew it was time. We were immediately treated with kindness, compassion, and warmth the second we walked in the door. Dr. Dietrich explained our options and walked us through the process so we can best understand everything. My heart aches, but the kindness we experienced was tremendously helpful. Thank you so much Dr. Dietrich and team.

This was a 3 + hour ordeal despite our vet having called in as to the specific test that was needed. Over 1hr in waiting area and 2 hours in a consultation room. Communication was appalling , getting your credit card was the priority . 2 visits in the consultation room, no explanation of what was going on, just thrust an invoice for approval. We asked to speak to vet, she was the best experience there.. Dr De Lorenzo . We were told they needed 20-30 min for the test, almost 2 hours passed then the nurse/assistant came in , thrust our dog in my wife’s hands ( with bleeding rear end ) and was only focused on payment , She stood by and watched my wife clean up the dog and mop the floor .No sign of vet or offered explanation of the test and results… unbelievable , but we’d had enough and left .Overall customer service experience and professionalism of staff ( excl vet) was 0 out of 5

Today my wife and I had the most unpleasant task of euthanasia for our 16 year Boston Terrier that was made so much easier by Dr. Hassinger and her staff. It was the most respectful , calming and professional service we could ever have wished for our Boston.Thank you, Thank you.

They saved my life! I got into some pain cream because it smelled like almond. My person found me at 2:00 a.m. with my tongue hanging out, pile of vomit around me, and totally non-responsive. She got my neighbor to help get me in the car and drove me to the ER immediately! They saved my life! After 3 days in hospital I am back to my old self! I love them there and want to lick all of them! ❤️ Cosgrove the puppy!

Brought my mastiff to be seen for loss of appetite, lethargy and what we thought was abdominal pain. We were worried he possibly had an obstruction. Madison was very kind and patient with my dog. Dr. Withycombe was knowledgeable, helpful, and honest. I am very pleased and although I hope I won’t need to bring my dog back, I know I can be at ease knowing he will be well cared for.

We've been here a few times, for urgent care appointments. The staff is professional and helpful. Dr. Thomas is kind, knowledgeable and truly involved us in care decisions giving us a clear plan to followup with our regular vet. A bit of a wait, but reasonable fees.

I want to thank all of the staff and the wonderful Doctor who treated my baby Nova after an attack. My dog was very nervous and scared coming in and the staff accommodated her to the fullest. They gave me an honest quote which ended up being $600 cheaper. They gave me awesome advice and sent us home with all the medication needed for Nova to heal properly. They took pictures of injuries in her mouth so I could see and better understand why they chose one treatment over another. They were so gentle with her and worked around her anxiety. Very informative and so prompt. We were taken straight back due to the extent of injuries. Total time spent was about 5 hours from check in to discharge which is pretty fast for a walk in on a busy day. The doctor as well as other staff was so nice and compassionate to Nova. I can tell they enjoy what they do.

Beautiful staff!!! Brought my 13 year old dog that was attacked by a dog and he ended up with a broken jaw. This beautiful hospital brought my Shino back to life and took good care of him while in the ICU. Now he is eating on his own and even barking through his muzzle. They brought back my son, my whole heart. Thank you all so so much.
