I don’t know if it’s just this specific branch or the bank itself, but something fishy is going on and I’m going to get to the bottom of it. My girlfriend had over $3000 in the bank and they decided to mail her a check talking about “holiday savings”…why would you mail her a check when she already has the money in her account…very odd and confusing. Talked to this woman named “Helen” and she was no help at all, and after reading the posts about the branch manager Tammy morton…I think it’s time to get a lawyer involved.

Phone support is non-existent at this bank. I haven’t had a hold time of less than 45 minutes over the past year. The branches are open 25 hours per WEEK? That’s a part-time job. Every time I have had issues with my business banking here I can never get to speak to a human. Now I made a 6-figure deposit and was told that there would be a 7-day hold on the money. Well, it’s day 8 and still a hold and can’t reach anyone and sorry I can’t make it into your branch during the few hours you deign to open your doors to talk to your customers. I will be moving my business accounts away from South State ASAP.

The branch manger Tammy Morton is NOT helpful and a liar. What this woman couldn’t do for me the same bank in a different location was able to. I understand you have to be cautious because of fraud but if I’ve given you all types of information stating I’m the person that’s not be dishonest why not help. Makes me sick. Definitely leaving once I get the chance and Miss Tammy just made that possible for be selfish and not being helpful

After being with South State 15 years, we are closing all our accounts and moving to a Federal Credit Union next week. I can't verbalize how disappointed I am that South State Bank has come to this. It used to be that you were a person - not a number. I called today and spoke with the branch manager at Antrim Dr. about an issue, and all she could say was that "the policy changed months ago." When I inquired why we weren't notified about the change, her reply was "we mailed several notices out before the change." Um... what notices? I didn't get one. I read everything that comes in the mail especially from the bank.I'm not angry - just VERY disappointed. I used to rave about this bank, LOVED this bank, and even used to work here years ago because it was community driven. I use to tell everyone to bank with South State because I believed that they were different. But today, I was just a number.If you need a bank with all the high-tech capability, and a strong back-office, then South State might be a good fit. But, if you're looking for a relationship bank, I'm afraid this one has fallen off the pedestal, and I'm heartbroken.
