Family of 4 stayed in Cottage 161 (2BR/2BA) during Thanksgiving week on an RCI exchange.Pros- The unit is close to the pool/hot tub/grill area, as well as the outdoor heated pool at Egret Point. I would also say the unit was spacious with some upgraded appliances. It was also nice to have access to the indoor pool and fitness center at SR Hotel.Cons-The view from the back porch wasn't great at all as you looked into the parking lot of a health center; The couch was so uncomfortable you almost couldn't sit on it; The Wi-Fi connection was very spotty; Their was a musty odor in the unit so i don't know if carpets/furniture needs to be cleaned or what; The floor in the living room is very uneven; Our check-in document said the resort was pet-free but I saw at least 2 units that had dogs; At one point we couldn't use both TVs in the bedrooms at the same time as it caused some interference. In hindsight, I should have asked for a unit with a lagoon or golf course view. I wouldn't say it was a terrible experience by any means, but just know that The Cottages is on older complex that is in need of some TLC. I will say it looks like they have been working on some improvements, so I would say it is better than a 3-star but not quite a 4-star at this point in time (lets call it 3.5 stars).

Except for the awful musty smell when you first walk in the door, actually you smell it as soon as you hit the door before it even opens, it's a nice Cottage. Unfortunately, my allergies did not appreciate the scent! It does not accommodate handicap parking, which was bad for us because the sidewalk that was for our Cottage was taken up by someone else, and therefore, we had to walk through the grassy, sandy area with the wheelchair. I think there should be at least another pathway if your cottage is blocked.

I had read alot of good things about the Cottages, but the unit we had (#138) is in desperate need of updating. It was clean, but the bathroom ceilings were water damaged, the trim around the bathroom sink was coming off the wall, the back door was moldy and old. And there were numerous slats missing from the vertical blinds. The staff though, was so nice and came through with a new hairdryer (broken), toaster (broken) and killed a wasp nest on the porch within 24 hours of our call. The stopper in the upstairs tub is also broken but we didn't ask for them to fix it, cause I just took it out for showers. Kitchen is well stocked, and the unit was clean and no bugs. Not luxurious but we were at the beach or out most of the time anyway so it was ok.

Nice place. Home away from home. The people are very friendly and respectful. Another perk is that it is a gated community.

My first time there. I believe the cottage we stayed in had been recently updated. Full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths with nice porch.

Had a wonderful time. We were very impressed with the location and condition of The Cottages. Gated community, private beach, golf course.

Our family of 6 went for a short trip of 4 days and 3 nights to Hilton Head Island. Our accommodations were the cottages, a 2 bdrm, 2 full bath with a queen pullout couch. The cottages are older in age, so if you looking for top notch no wear and tear they may not be for you. The cottages give a beach house feel, very cozy and quaint. We were in a corner unit with a front and back porch. The presentation by Simon was great. He took his time and really listened to what we wanted and needed in regards to vacations. The membership we spoke about made sense with our travel needs and is affordable. The initial checkin at the Visitor Center didn’t have a welcoming feeling, it was very cut and dry. The SR hotel staff was amazing and very pleasant. Front desk staff Tomeka was attentive and knew her stuff. We encountered an issue with the property security as our access pass did not match the unit we were staying in. We were sent back to the SR Hotel to have it corrected just to be sent back to the very same security officer who printed a new pass.My husband and I are looking to our trip next year when we will be staying a full week. Overall I am extremely delighted with our trip and the experience we had with Simon and Russell.

Horrible maintenance program. Enjoy the turtles and alligators just outside your backdoor. Golfing nearby looked like a good course, but I didn't try it.

Love the cabins they were great but the time share presentation was a nightmare. The sales representative was very condescending And rude. She really didn't need to be working with the public with the attitude that she had. We would love to have heard More about the company but there was no way I would work with someone like her. The property was a little dated but nice for a family vacation

Have been coming here since the mid 90's. The place have has some years on it, but overall seems to be well maintained. We like it because we can walk right out on to one of greens of the golf course.
