This business was Northwest Processing prior to selling to these folks. Last year I brought a couple deer to them to little success. Half of the vacuum sealed bags were not sealed and the meat requires far more trimming than ever before. I was going to use them again today due to location and drove there to find a sign in the window that they were not taking deer. In over 20 years of using the previous owners I can't remember once that happened. Maybe they are doing their beef or don't have employees but it is a bummer.

These negative reviews are crazy. This is the best processor around, Northwest WAS the best and now Back 40. If you are looking for the cheapest then make your choice. If you want premium processing, food safety and excellent presentation for your family then this is the place at a fair price. My go to always.

Staff are always helpful and polite. Meat is processed to the highest standards. Just wish they were closer.

First time ever taking a deer to get processed and the lady up front was very helpful with everything including helping me choose what kind of meat I wanted back. My grandma found this place and I think she did a good job. I’ll be posting another review after I pick up my meat. WAIT !!! Can’t forget the two guys and the lady that was at the back.... Very friendly great play to take deer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Northwest Meat center in Hodges has new owners. The place is now called Back 40 butchery. Northwest charged me $50 for a regular burger and cubed steak processing on my deer. I always take my deer to them already quartered up in an ice chest. I took a deer to Back 40 quartered up just like always. They required a $50 deposit to drop it off. When I picked up my deer I had to pay another $15. I just got burger and cubed steak, nothing special. I paid $65 for what I was getting for $50 with Northwest. There was a $10 cooler fee. I asked what the cooler fee was and the lady said it's because I brought it in a cooler. She told me it would have been $20 if they had to dress the deer. So, they charged me $10 for NOT having to dress the deer! I processed my own deer for years and it's looking like I might start doing it again. I will not be using or recommending Back 40 Butchery in Hodges Sc.Edit: I just went through my meat. I asked for the backstraps to be cubed and I wanted my inner loins whole. Well, my backstraps are whole and I have no clue where the inner loins are. I guess they ate them.

Not the same place as before I suggest looking for another processor. Took a 120 lb deer and got back 15 lbs come to find out if you make a shoulder shot they throw the whole shoulder out.I want be taking another deer there.

Got 24 lbs of meat off a 110 lb doe. Processed fine but they are not as resourceful as the previous owner. Will look for another processor.
