I have been a patient of Lexington Family Practice Ballentine for over a decade. I appreciate the medical care I receive. I use the Mychart app. Messages are answered quickly (mostly) or by the end of the day. Prescriptions refill requests are handled swiftly. I have no complaints and definitely recommend the practice.

I was just on the phone with a white southern old lady to ask a question about one of my medications that my pharmacy said my insurance wouldn’t cover. I asked multiple question about how to get my insurance to cover it and what I should do and not only did she not answer any of my questions she hung up the phone on me. Thank you Lexington Medical Family Practice Ballentine for all of your help. This woman does not deserve a job in customer service.

Worst experience of my life in all of my years going to doctors!!! This entire place is a joke. Zero bed side manner and extremely rude. I literally was belittled and scrutinized at my visit by their staff, Sam. This isn’t the first time either. My husband experienced the same thing the first time he visited by the same person, Sam. This could be a good doctors office if they hired the right staff. However, they all stick up for one another and a complaint to the “Office Manager” is just as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

I loved my doctor here! I have been seeing her for years and just recently had to move unfortunately. She was awesome and really let me just discuss life with her to figure out what I may or may not need.

Husband had a a first time appointment with PA Porter. Unfortunately he got stuck at work (new job) and was not able to make it. I called and canceled the appointment right away, but a few days later received a letter "releasing " him from the practice. When I called, I was told that this is office policy unless you cancel 24 hours or more in advance. I guess the staff there are special and have never had an emergency happen that prevented them from being where they needed to be! Life must run smoothly for them all of the time!! Well glad to know that they are understanding and caring!

EXCELLENT experience with Dr. Scott McKay and this office. Wanda, the receptionist, was professional, nice and very helpful. Dr. McKay was kind, helpful, thorough and when it comes to humility, he is the greatest! Michelle the nurse was cheerful, helpful, encouraging and a great person to fill in the gaps for those in the office that were pressed for time and could not be as helpful. Mercedes Jones was outstanding! She checked us out with a sweet spirit and helped facilitate an administrative detail for us that would have been very difficult for us to complete without her help. Finally, Erica's phone presence was excellent, helpful and kind. Quite a good experience at this office.

Called to schedule an appointment as a new patient and the receptionist recommended I go to urgent care for my cold instead. I just wanted to have an appointment for later this week, but instead I’m told to clog up the wait for people with serious conditions. Judging by the other reviews, looks like I dodged a bullet in choosing a different care provider.

I live in Kershaw county, so it’s a little ways to go. I left home early in case I got behind a wreck or some other unforeseen issue. However, I ended up getting there between 15 -20 minutes late. First of all I apologized and told her I was willing to sit there all day until somebody had a break but I needed to be seen. She said they have a policy that once you are marked as a ‘no show’ the system won’t allow them to schedule you on the same day!I am disabled and on oxygen! I needed a doctor! I told her I don’t mind seeing someone else. Nope! They flat refused to see me. Told me to go to urgent care or the ER.I will find a more compassionate practice closer to home. They schedule patients at 10 minute intervals… that says a lot! They obviously care more about the dollar than they do the patients.I would like to add that I loved Dr.Nunnery, that's why I followed him from the NE Office to Ballentine. I asked them to talk to him that day and if he wouldn't see me I'd leave. They said he said no. A part of doesn't believe them but I did find another Dr that is 2 1/2 miles from home and I like them very much.I know losing one patient won't make or break them but I think their 'oath' needs to say something about forget the dollar and treat the patient. They showed no empathy or compassion for my situation and that was all I needed to convince me it is time to move on.I'm a patient now and not a quota to fill.

This place has no compassion AT ALL...with a broken ankle and surgery scheduled in two days I needed medical clearance prior to surgery...the commute from my home in Elgin is 50 mins...this place refused to see me due to me arriving 15 minutes late WITH A BROKEN LEG AND IN OBVIOUS PAIN...my wife spoke with the clinic manager after getting nothing but attitude by one of the receptionist (the one the sits on the right side with short hair) and even the clinic manager showed zero concern for what I was going through...I've been a patient at LFP for over 6 years and there's no way I'll ever set foot in that office again!! If I'm honest with this post I must include the feeling of being discriminated by this office! Never again will I go there and I truly feel compelled to share my last and final experience with this clinic...it was shameful the way they treated me and they showed no concern whatsoever for what I was obviously goin through...

Dr. McKay has no bedside manner and doesn’t review his patients charts. Would not recommend this practice. Saw him when I had COVID and was severely dehydrated. Came into room and I was laying on table. Asked me was I pouting. Very unprofessional! Did nothing for me. Told me if I wasn’t better by next day, may have to go to get fluids. Ended up going to ER that evening, Received 3 bags of fluid.

Why do I have to go in and pay an arm and a leg just to get my prescriptions refilled? They make you schedule an appointment, take your weight and blood pressure. Ask you 3 questions and then you are on the hoof for paying a visit like they did brain surgery. Makes zero sense.

I had a 3:40 appointment with Hunter Porter NP on Dutch Fork Rd. for a refill on anxiety medicine. Lexington Family Practice requires patients to make and pay for an appointment for refills. I have since found another practitioner (an actual doctor) who does not charge me every time she has to write a refill. Due to heavy traffic, I realized I would be a few minutes late so I called the office to let them know I was on my way. I was told by the receptionist to come on in since I was less than a mile from the facility. I arrived in the LMC parking lot at 3:43. When I went to check-in, I was told by the staff member that they might not be able to "fit me in". I explained to her, three times, that I had called ahead concerning my delay and was told it was not a problem and to come in. I was then called back to a patient room where I sat until 4:20. I asked a staff member when I would be seen. He explained, in a surly tone, that since I was "late" another patient had been put before me and Hunter Porter was examining him in the room across the hall. I realize this is an over-explanation but these facts are relevant as to what was to come. When Hunter Porter finally came into the room, I told him that I was upset because of the lack of communication between their office staff. I explained to Hunter Porter that I would not be returning to LMC on Dutch Fork Rd. and would be looking for a provider closer to my work due to heavy traffic on Dutch Fork Rd. I was checking out when Hunter Porter called me aside to lecture me about my comment about my appointment being 40 minutes late. He said that a nurse had told him I was "yelling and slamming the patient room door." This is an absolute fabrication. I did not "yell" nor did I slam the door and I explained this to Hunter. I asked Hunter if he had heard any yelling or door slamming since he was in the exam room directly across the hall from me and he said no. I would think that if I had actually been yelling and slamming doors, the nurse would have come to check on the problem or see if the patient was in distress (I was there for a refill for anxiety medication). The patient's needs were not taken into consideration, instead, the nurse chose to relay an exaggerated version of what actually happened. I then resumed check-out procedures and could hear someone in the hallway speaking loud enough that I realized he was talking about me. I assume he was talking to Hunter and that Hunter was relaying the exaggerated version of what actually took place. Again, Hunter had already told me that he had not heard any yelling or door slamming and I had already explained to Hunter that I had not slammed the door or yelled yet Hunter still chose to relay the exaggerated version to another staff member. The person speaking loudly was one of the doctors. He was still speaking about me as I was leaving the office so I video recorded him. Mind you, I had already had a staff member fabricate what had actually happened, was lectured, and now the exaggerated version was being relayed to the doctor. I was then sent a letter from Hunter Porter stating, "The relationship between physician, practitioners and their patients is based on mutual respect and concerns, the provision of sound medical care, and the adherence to the patient to the rules of the medical practice. When there is a breakdown in this relationship, it is often best that it be terminated." Hunter also chose to write the exaggerated version in my medical chart. I had no problem with the letter since LFPB clearly does not show "respect" to their patients but to actually write these lies in my medical chart was just too much. I contacted the Lexington Medical Center Action Line to file a complaint. All they did was refer this back to the Ballentine Office Manager who finally deemed to call me after I called the Action Line 5 times over a 4 week period. She backed up the actions of the employees 100% even though I have a video of their unprofessionalism.
