“Sometimes in life you find yourself in a pickle - this was me a few nights back. I was pushing my 110lbs., broken down, bicycle, down route 17, just before nightfall - when I stumbled upon the Edisto Motel. (I'm currently riding my bicycle the US east coast) I was hot, road dirty, hungry, sore, and sun burned, a little lost, and a little scared. I needed a place to unpack and work on my bike. I was desperate. Susan Hickman, the owner/operator, of the Edisto Motel could see I was desperate. I remember she said to me, "if you don't mind waiting a little bit, I can get you in a room." ( I think they were getting ready to call it a day). Susan flew through that room in moments. One minute I was in a world of hurt - the next - AC, fresh sheets, towels, lights, action...Thank you Susan. You're a gem. you saved my life. The next morning, her husband Michael drove me to Walterboro, SC to pick up a rental car. (I needed to get my bike to a shop). In the bicycling world we call people like Susan and Michael "road angels/bike angels," - and they truly are. Thank you so much for your kindness and help, Susan and Michael.
