“If you are looking for quiet and a place to slow down and reflect, Mepkin Abbey is a perfect choice. I’ve gone both for day trips in spring & fall as well as a 3 day private retreat at the retreat center. All of my experiences offered beauty, rest, solitude, silence, connection with God, and a reset for my soul.
Day trip: Sit on benches by the river (see dolphins), listen to the birds chirping, feel the breeze, walk the grounds through history and large oak trees, enjoy the sculptures. The gift shop is full of delights as well. Free.
Private Retreat: A simple room with a bed, desk, chair & private bathroom with shower is provided. You have access to areas restricted from day trippers. There is a library and chapel in the heart of the retreat center, more grounds to explore, hammocks to enjoy, and you can join the community of monks for their services most mornings & evenings as well. Suggested donation.
Note: I did not experience the labyrinth, as I have no desire to do so due to personal convictions. Otherwise, the grounds are beautiful and overall quiet, apart from the days of mowing of grass.”
“I have been with BEC for almost 38yrs. I mean this when I say, they have always been, efficient, professional and pleasant. The BEST electric company i have ever had the pleasure to pay. That includes the other local companies. 10 plus service”
