Took the watercolor class for beginners and it was so awesome! Each class taught different concepts and they made sure to introduce new materials to understand what was available and how to use it. Definitely looking forward to more classes here! The owners are very personable and friendly.

This was my second art lesson at the Blair Art Center. I took an Impressionist weekend Workshop with Dru Blair. I was the only attendee, so it became a private lesson! Dru was so positive and encouraging. I learned a lot about technique and some helpful tips. Most importantly, he told me that art should make you happy! He also showed me how to use an air brush. I would highly recommend both Dru and Silvia. They are friendly, talented and encouraging!

I first heard about the Blair Center For The Arts when I was admiring a piece of art at a gallery on Sullivan’s Island. The artist was Silvia Belviso Blair and I was informed that she provides private art lessons. Relatively new to the world of painting and stuck on a particular commission piece, I signed up for a class from Silvia. I was not disappointed. She is fantastic. In the hour that she spent with me, I learned so many useful tips that I continue to use on a very regular basis. She is patient, thoughtful with her instruction, and just a very talented artist.I decided to take an oil painting class from Silvia shortly thereafter. Having just moved, it was so nice to have the two locations (Mt. Pleasant and West Ashley) to choose from. Once again, Silvia’s instruction did not disappoint and I have now transitioned from using mostly acrylics to working mostly in oils now. The classes were mellow and my fellow classmates were a lot of fun - so much so that nobody paid attention to the time and Silvia was gracious enough to let us stay past our designated hour and a half if we chose to.The classes range from beginner/basic to very unique and I can’t wait to explore them further. If you have a creative itch, I highly recommend the Blair Center!

I have airbrushed on and off for about 10 years, I have always looked for ways of getting better in a quicker manner and I found that with Dru Blair’s classes. I have a few of the classroom in a box, and recently attended one of the virtual classes. Although wasn’t able to fully emerge myself 100% due to a blown transmission and an under the weather kiddo, the play back videos are ver thorough and I cannot wait to take another.

I walked in an amateur and walked out feeling like I could paint and draw anything! I was so surprised at how easy Dru makes art feel. It’s not as overwhelming that I thought it would be and my friends think I have a real talent now but it’s really just because I learnt the right and easy way to do things. He has great teaching skills, is kind and patient. I will be back for the next course.

Retired recently and signed up for a 5 week watercolor class from Sylvia. Not only is she an excellent artist and teacher, but extremely kind and helpful. She teaches the basics and helps you learn how to better your art. I love her and her passion and also my 3 classmates!! I love what I am learning and the art I am creating. She is a 5 out of 5 for sure! Christine Osborne

For almost 2 years as a new resident in S.C. I tried to find an adult art class or school in Mt. Pleasant (not downtown Charleston!). The pandemic didn’t help! I am happy to say I’m now in a small watercolor class with “Sylvia” at the Blair Arts Center. She’s truly the teacher extraordinaire; professional, personable, patient, and positive and oh, what a marvelous painter!
