I arrived at Strand Urgent Care earlier today to have a handicap placard filled out for asthmatic problems. Everything was well until Dr. Joseph V. Vandergriff came through the consultation room door. He did not introduce himself nor greet me or my boyfriend, he said,”Nope. Not happening.” Dr. Vandergriff was so crude that I was certain it was a jest, but I was unfortunately mistaken, he was being serious.Dr. Vandergriff did not ask me any questions regarding my asthmatic problems, but proceeded to tell me what medicine I needed to reduce inflammation in my lungs. Dr. Vandergriff said.” You do not deserve a handicap placard because there are a million people with asthma that don’t have handicap placards.” To further support his denial of my handicap placard he said, “I would be infuriated if I saw someone your age get out of a car in a handicap spot, asthma is not going to get you a handicap placard. I have denied patients request for handicap placard because of knee pain/injury before, it’s not going to be that easy.” I realized then that he was not going to help me, so I requested that my boyfriend and I leave.Dr. Vandergriff did not show us out, he proceeded to walk out of the room in a haste and to his office where I heard him laugh and talk about what was just said between us. I have never had a more unprofessional experience. Dr. Vandergriff made me feel unimportant, undeserving, and all around like I wasted his time.

Excellent experience from front desk to medical staff and doctor! Went for urgent visit but will establish care with this office to be my primary doctors office!

This truly the best office I have ever been to. I highly recommend them. Rachael is my PCP. She has always gone above and beyond, and I truly appreciate her and trust her. I also take my children here and we have seen all 3 doctors and have never been disappointed. The office staff has changed recently, and the old staff was amazing, but the new staff is just as amazing. I had a problem with my daughter having blood drawn for the first time and everyone was so caring to her and tried to make her relaxed as possible. I have no plans on changing doctors.

I’m very lucky with my primary care. For two years I took my family to the ER at the same location. They are fantastic by the way. But now we have been going to Strand for about 6 months. Always fast and gentle with my kids, Alicia really listens when you speak and prescribes what you need for your problems. I plan to go back today actually. We have been probably 8 times since August. Rachel is my son’s doctor, I can’t rave about her enough. The front office staff is always in a nice, welcoming mood and laugh with you. Did I mention how CLEAN it is? Do yourself a favor. Go here. They also play music in the hallway now for patient privacy.

Went to the office knowing I was sick. Told the Dr that I had been weezing all night and had a hard time breathing. He recommended over the counter drugs before I meantioned an inhaler or presnisone he finally decided ok maybe prednisone. Paid 171 for visit and 191 for normal protocol of vitals? So not really sure what the 191 was for. Throughout the day my breathing got worse so I ended up in er where they gave me a breathing treatment an inhaler and higher does of prednisone and I feel so much better. Would have gone there first if I would have known to get better care.

Worst experience I ever had with Dr Vandergriff is incounted the worst bed manner ,unprofessional, incompetent doctor. Management don't care they'll just apologize but that is all.

Very welcoming and helpful staff. The nurse practitioner has more knowledge than “doctors”. I respect any doctors…but some docs are better than other docs. In this case, the nurse practitioner at Strand Urgent Care deserves kudos!!!Thank you so much!!!

This is my favorite urgent care! I’m almost afraid to post a review so others don’t rush to this one. The waiting room is spacious, staff is friendly and welcoming. The Dr’s and NP Alicia are all caring and efficient! We have gone for everything from injuries to common illnesses. Game changer in medical care!

I didn’t have a positive experience here. I went in for knee pain with the only two obvious causes were a torn MCL or Meniscus. Instead of just getting a quick solution with an MRI, I was first required to get X-rayed, asked if I wanted pain meds, then sent to rehab. Weeks turned into months of wasted time and enduring pain. I found another location where I could do a walk-in MRI and in 40mins, discovered that I had a torn meniscus. The ball was dropped on the physical examination in my opinion, and I don’t recommend going here for anything serious.

As a person who only visits a doctors office when I have to, I am extremely satisfied with the level of care I received today. I am one of the owners of iScreenFix, and primarily fix broken cellphones and tablets, and managed to get a piece of glass in my finger, that I could not extract myself, that became infected. Dr. Vandergriff made short work of it, after I expressed that I did not want to go to the ER for this if I did not have to. I had a fantastic experience from check in to check out, and the next time I find myself in need I will be back.

I was looking for a good family doctor who could help me regularly as my primary care physician. I decided to give Vandergriff an opportunity to be my physician because his office is close to my home. I have never in my life met a more entitled, arrogant, disrespecful, and uneducated doctor. It's malpractice to have such an unqualified person practicing and guiding patients well being. Without going into extreme detail, this doctor will belittle you and ignore symptoms you are having as if youre there for no reason at all. His apprentice seemed nice enough, but continued to laugh in the hallway when explaining the reason for my visit which could clearly be heard through the door. To give you some context i had chest pain and wasnt feeling well all day. I thought it was the resposible thing to do, seeing a doctor to get my vitals checked. During our conversation he continued to spew his "knowledge" and in the same sentence says "I'm no expert, nor do I want to be an expert in everything". If someone comes to you for help and you're not qualified, you refer them to a specialists. You don't antagonize and be disrespectful them. To anyone who reads this, you can do better. This guy will hopefully lose his license one day. And enforcing mask mandates still for covid? Tells you all you need to know about this guy......

Excellent service and extremely clean and comfortable. Dr Vandergriff and his assistant, Kathy, were both very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Walked in without an appt and was treated with kindness in a timely manner. Even Linda who took my blood was friendly and quick! What a difference from the doctors care I went to initially who didn't do much for me!

I’ve been a patient of Rachel Dorr for well over a year now and couldn’t be happier. It can take so much time & effort these days to find a PCP you feel you can trust while also getting quality care, so needless to say I’ll be sticking with her as my PCP. Everyone at the office is always so helpful no matter the issue. Ive worked in the medical field for years, so I can appreciate all that they do to help their patients. 10/10 recommend Strand Urgent Care & their providers ??

The rudest doctor I've ever met in my life. They're offended if you ask questions. Bedside manner of the grim reaper. You'll get better medical services at the comedy cabana on hwy 17.
