If I could leave a zero star review, I would. I like to consider myself a frequent Budget customer. I have always had great experiences with my rentals for both work and personal use. This rental at Charleston International Airport was the worst experience of any rental I’ve ever had. There were NO attendants at the rental desk when we picked up the car. The car was FILTHY and smelled of marijuana. The windows were covered in a greasy film and the car smelled awful. The windows were down when we picked up the car, but the odor was very strong. We would have exchanged the car or had complained if there were an employee present. When we dropped off the car, again not one employee to be found. I left the keys on the dash as instructed and left the car in the return bay. I will surely not be renting here again, and would highly recommend anyone go anywhere else for a car.

Do not arrive after 6pm to this car rental place. They only have two employees working. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and informative, but very by the book. He talked a bit too much. I had been traveling all day with two very tired kids under the age of 5, and a stressed out wife. I just wanted to swipe my card, get the paperwork I needed, and get to my destination. It was the Thanksgiving weekend. Traveling sucks around this time. The poor kid (18-20 years old at the time) that was alone, working in the car garage was overwhelmed with customers trying to leave. Nice kid though. Got me what I needed and on my way. The first vehicle I reserved ( a pick up truck) had a dead battery. I only confirmed this after trying to start it for 10 minutes. Then I was assigned a second vehicle ( also a pickup truck), it had a long dent on the passenger side door, four different tires, two of the tires were worn down to the tread bar on the tire, the truck had a wet smell to it, there was no windshield washer fluid in it ( I kept getting an alert), and the windshield was dirty. I was late, so I just took the truck. I wanted to get my family to our destination to get some much needed rest. Most of the issues were found out the following day with daylight to expose the issues. Then I found out the motor to the back window didn't work, because when i tried to close the back window it left a one inch gap open. Tried to close it over and over again, nothing. The window was left open. Guess what? It rained that night. The whole back seat and two child safety seats got soaked. I called customer service twice. Both times got foreigners trying to solve my issue. The first person couldn't understand my issue. Big surprise there. So I called the next day. I got another foreigner, but got lucky and he understood my issues. He told me to turn in the second vehicle to get another vehicle. The next day, I did just that. The lady at the booth in the garage was nice, got me in and out. But only after a 45 minute wait because of other customers. The third truck I got was up to my standards for safety, cleanliness, and quality. My family and I were able to enjoy the last few days of our Thanksgiving vacation after that. For the money I was paying for, the vehicles were definitely not to standard. The face to face customer service was adequate. The customer service over the phone needs heavy improvement.

1. They didn't have the car class that we reserved and instead put us in a minivan. Not what we wanted and not acceptable.2. Drove from CHS to our hotel downtown (10 miles) and it was parked in the hotel garage. The next day it would not start. Required a tow (which dictated us staying with the car waiting for the truck), an uber ride back to the airport, waiting in line again, getting another car and driving back to the hotel. 3 1/2 hours of our limited vacation lost.3. Replacement car had its' engine light come on and off at least 10 times over the next 4 days, causing angst and worry every time we drove somewhere, not being sure if we'd make it back.All in all, I'm done with Budget. That includes Avis, Payless, and your other brands as well.

There were six of us in our group and all over eighty years old. We made our way to the Budget counter, signed the contract, and were told we had to walk through two HUGH garages to pick up the rental car. We paid over $700.00 for the privilege of walking a country mile through two garages to get to the car. They should have had an employee bring the car to us !! Upon returning the vehicle we were told we put 200 miles on it and the tank was almost empty. We actually put about 50 to 60 miles on it so the tank wasn't full when we picked it up SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!! We had visited Charleston SC

Got a car that was super smoked out and stunk real bad. The customer service rep came my driver license had to go back and get it. Line is super long as they are super slow. Stay away from this place

Like others have said, this was by far the WORST rental car experience I have had. After arriving in the parking lot, I found my car, which was filthy, old, and with 65k miles. I then pulled out of the crammed parking spot and followed the arrows on the lane line. I was quickly yelled at for going the wrong way. When I explained I was following the lane arrows, the employee told me to admit I was wrong and to go to the exit. Unfortunately the employees parked more waiting cars in the exit lane, they were baffled why anyone would be confused by this. It was a circus, with absolutely no management or customer service. Worst of all, I was left with a dirty, old vehicle for 7 days. Never again will I use Budget.

We had the worst experience with Budget Rental at Charleston airport. We waited for an hour to be assigned a car. The car was filthy inside and clearly had not been cleaned after the last rental. After we were 30 minutes away we noticed a putrid smell, we had to drive with all the windows open. After two days of the horrible smell we finally looked under all the seats and we found a box of rotting Popeyes chicken with bugs in it under the seat. horrible!!!

You wait 30 minutes in line to get paper work for a vehicle already reserved, then you walk about 3/4 of a mile to another line with about 40 people in it because they only have 1 person getting the cars. Sixth next time for me

If I could give this place zero stars and still place this review, I would. Slowest, most disorganized company I have ever seen on my life! Arrived at Charleston airport with a confirmed and prepaid reservation. Waited for an hour and a half in line until after midnight and the clerk says sorry the next four people have a car. The rest of you go to garage and fend for yourself with the people out there. We are shutting down and going home. There were 40 people in line! How can you confirm and accept $ for that many cars and not have any? How is this company still in business? Do not waste your time or vacation dealing with this joke of a business.

Terrible company. They charged me $1,100.00 because I had to extend a car rental by 4 days while on vacation in SC due to a hurricane. Chevy equinox was old and dinged/scratched on the outside. Wouldn’t work at all with me on lowering the charges. Only option was to drive to Charleston, which was flooded by the way, and talk to the front counter worker. Totally uncalled for. Never rent from Budget or any of their related rental companies, especially if there’s a natural disaster. They see dollar signs when you are helpless.

Charleston International Airport: I give ya'll ZERO stars! My car was trash, and the staff was RUDE and did not care. The car rattled and knocked. It quit on me 4 times. I called the roadside assistance. The BEST they could do was tell me to wait 6hrs for an exchange to come to me or me drive 2 hrs to return/exchange. When i suggested they just pick it for good, they said they could not guarantee i would be refunded for an early return. The entire center console backup camera Bluetooth, radion, and usb was not functional. Also, the registration was out of date, which led to me being pulled over by law enforcement. When I returned the car, the staff LAUGHED at me for complaining and said it wasn't their issueI needed to talk to so and so.. so and so had already told me to talk to someone else. Then I got charged ANOTHER $30 when I turned in the car. I did refill the gas, so I am still unsure WHY I was charged more. It even showed 8/8 when I got the car and 8/8 when I returned.I would NEVER use nor reccoment this company. I would like a refund for all the trouble.UPDATE: Budget did a full refund AFTER I submitted a complaint to the BBB. Customer Service would only offer me either a free 2 day or 1/2 refund.

Very slow service at this rental office. Even slower at the parking garage. 1h after arriving and was still waiting on rental car.Staffed walks past us 3 times before even bothered to ask if we are waiting or been helped.Unorganized office sending client back and forth between parking garage and terminal.Even slower to close the rental I have taken 2 flights and the next rental can't be pick up due to incompetent staff.Been on the phone for 2 hours trying to sort out issue with them and no response from the budget air port location.Keeps ringing and then the phone get put down.Great service ... keep it up.

Do not choose Budget! We had an 1:45 minute wait at the airport, outside, to receive a dirty car! While we waited we were surrounded by trash that had not been picked up; it was a very hot day in Charleston SC.

Fast, friendly and efficient service at the airport. We had a nice clean SUV that ran great. Upon return, we had no issues dropping off. Very easy procedure. Will definitely rent from Budget again.
