Edited to add what happened after the offer to help below: NOTHING. Literally not even a reply to my follow up email they invited. Do not mistake these superficial expressions of concern on bad Google reviews for anything other than the marketing deflection that they are. Just wasted more of my time.Left a jacket in my car. Tried to call the local number immediately and nobody answers the line. Rang the phone for as long as 45 minutes and nobody ever answers. I've now done this 8 separate times over two days, trying different phone menu options.Nobody picks up the phone. Ever. Not once. The National corporate office sent a message to the local manager to call me. No call. No response to my online submission. Finally got to a National corporate supervisor who said I'd just have to wait. It seems that negative reviews on Google are the only way to get a response from "the owner," so I'm trying this next. See the comments about the impossibility of actually reaching anyone at this location. I am not alone. Disconnect the phone if you aren't going to answer it.

National car rental was excellent on our last trip. We arrived at the rental facility in Charleston,and because of Emerald Club membership zipped along to enjoy our trip. Staff very helpful and pleasant. It is always a great experience with National.

I typically have great experiences with National. But this last one was the complete opposite. My Emerald Isle vehicle had lots of long strands of human hair in the back when I asked the attendant were there any other large vehicles available he simply said this is all we have. I never have a problem picking from the Chs airport but according to him it was a smaller airport so the options were more limited. Never the case in the past. I picked it up with 3/4 tank of gas and returned it the same yet they charged me for three gallons of gas at over $5 a gallon. I thought this had to be a mistake but I put in a support email three days ago and have yet to hear back.

National was great to rent from - having everything set up ahead of time, was able to go straight to the Emerald Isle to pick a car, hand my license to the attendant at the gate on the way out, and off. Very easy pick up and drop off, would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience! Emerald Isle is amazing! Just pick out a car, get in and head on out. The car was clean and ready to go. No problems with car at all. Return was just as quick! Will definitely be using National Car Rental again!

The lady at the counter was very nice. This review is not a reflection of her. It is a review on the process. I have an enterprise account and an emerald account. They said the two joined and the emerald account was created because of that. Even though I booked with my emerald account information when I arrived to pick up the car she could not tie my rental to that account. She said she had to create me a new account. So now I don't have that rental showing on my emerald account. I'm just going to stick to enterprise to avoid the hassle.

My experience picking up & dropping off the vehicle was great—quick and easy. My only issue is trying to get in contact with the CHS Desk due to leaving an important item in the backseat. I’ve tried to call & fill out a form for lost & found but still haven’t heard anything back yet I would much rather talk to an actual person.

I picked up my car and proceeded to leave the lot. The attendant couldn't find my reservation. He called the manager and then we were notified that we had been upgraded to VIP and he already had a car waiting for us.. He unloaded all of our luggage and loaded it into the new car. It was so nice!

RENT FROM HERE! BEST CHS OPTION!I could not recommend this place more! They have a huge selection of cars all of which are very nice. The people working there could not be more friendly and professional! They truly respected and honored my executive elite status and let me get a "fun" car for the week! I also had to keep changing my return date due to work schedule issues, which was super easy with them! They also have very low miles car.I have rented from Avis at CHS and they are the worst. I wanted to try them out with my recent Presidents club and much cheaper for one way rental. It was a mistake. National is by far the best! I could go on and on about how much of a joyful experience they added to my trip and helped getting the best car possible! I would give more stars if possible! I will definitely be renting from them again!

Update: I emailed the address Stacy provided in their comment, only to get a reply days later that they see they had resolved the issue. Just National wasting more of my time. I'm going to update my review from 3 to 2 stars.______________I made a reservation and had applied one day free loyalty credit to it. The process to pick up the car and return the car went smoothly. I had no complaints about the car or the selection. However, when I checked out, the free credit was not applied despite it clearly being listed in the reservation confirmation.I called the customer service number listed in the National app. After speaking with 5 different people over the course of about 45 minutes to an hour, I was finally able to get the credit refunded to my account. The customer service team should be better trained on who can handle refunds in situations like this. Each representative was nice and aside from the 2nd person, they seemed to understand the situation and truly want to help get me my refund. (The 2nd representative didn't seem to fully understand English and transferred me to a 3rd rep whose job was to collects outstanding payments. The 3rd representative however, was the first person I spoke to who actually pulled up my reservation and my receipt and noted that I had indeed reserved and redeemed a credit and that the credit had somehow not been applied to the bill, but instead the credit was returned to my Emerald account. The 3rd rep also went out of her way to stay on the line with me until I finally was transferred to a rep who could process the refund.) This issue should have been resolved after speaking with no more than 2 customer service representatives. Once resolved, the refund was quickly issued back to my original payment method.I felt like this was almost scam to take my money and have my credit expire before I could use it. I suppose many people would not have noticed the difference between the confirmed price and the final price nor have had the patience to sit on the line speaking with 5 different National representatives to resolve the issue. Since this was the first issue I have had with National, I will choose to give them the benefit of the doubt and will continue to rent vehicles from them in the future.

Rented a car for one day, returned the car on time, got charged for 2 days since they had no one to check my car back in. They checked it in next day. Contacted customer service, they said they need approval from supervisor and that someone would get back to me in 1-2 days. It’s been more than 4 days, no one checked back with me or credited my credit card for overcharge.

My flight was delayed into Charleston, SC and I called the service center to find out what arrangements I needed to make. National assured me the attendants would be staying late to accommodate customers. We were stranded at the garage with several other families at 2:30 am. We were very disappointed we were misled by National. We carried our luggage back to the airport and paid a steep price for transportation. What a night!

We rented a one way to Charleston SC. There was a huge selection of vehicles. Being an emerald club member for many years I was able to just walk up and drive off. The Explorer we got was super clean and very nice. It ran flawlessly for over 600 miles to Charleston South Carolina.

National Car Rental is always my first choice for rental cars. Service is quick and having status allows use of the emerald aisle which is fast and convenient at most airports. Drop off process is fast and efficient.
