If I could leave less than 1 I would. The public should beware of this location and their practices. The AC went out in my Nissan Rogue and I brought it in to Pep Boys. Initially they said the compressor went out and, if you replace the compressor then you absolutely have to replace the condenser too because it will cause the new compressor to break. So we did, paid 1800 for it and the AC blew cold. The store manager told us that he also had a Rogue and sometimes the AC will just stop work and for us to turn it off and turn it back on. Two days later it went out again and his fix did not work of course. Upon return to Pep Boys, they said their refurbished part must have been faulty and gave us a 'brand new 1200 dollar part' to try and make it right. During this repair, they knocked out the front camera and did not replace the bolts in the guards beneath the car, causing scraping on the tires. It was during this visit that they destroyed the subframe of my car. We had to have it towed from another mechanics shop BACK to Pep Boys, who then proceeded to tell us that our subframe was fine and stated they would be doing no further work on it. Taking it from Pep Boys, it clattered and sounded like it was falling apart going over the smallest bumps. Took us another 1800 to fix the subframe bushings and control arms. This new mechanic also found 2 freon leaks that Pep Boys said did not exist. And of course, the AC still doesn't work. Pep Boys refuses to look at it again unless we pay for a recharge and leak test which we can no longer afford. No one has been helpful, Pep Boys corporate keeps telling us they'll get a case started and, when we call to follow up, they just start another case. We have photos and videos and testimonials from everyone who has looked at our car and Pep Boys still will do nothing. At this point, I want my money back for the work they did because it didn't solve anything at all.

front desk people were very nice! some customers were being so rude to them but they handled it very well and treated me as a clean slate and with respect! also took very good care of my car! will be coming back in the future

This is a double charge on my account, they won’t return my calls or respond to emails. They are rip off artists. They did not actually perform any job at all for my vehicle and then charged twice for my inspections. Evil people working here

Everyone at Pep Boys on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston were very pleasant, professional, and courteous. Richard (Rick) my technician was very knowledgeable about the car care of my vehicle, and he saved me from having to spend money on something I did not needed. He was very honest with me. Hudson Nissan of Summerville told me I needed brake pads and rotors and after Mr. Rick did his inspection I did not. This was my first time going to Pep Boys, and because of the service I received I will continue to go back. Thank you so much Mr. Rick and the Pep Boys team.

They advertise a free a/c check and all I had to do was schedule an appointment. I scheduled an appointment only to be told when I arrive it would be a 2-4 hour wait because they are short staff. When I made the appointment, they took my email and phone number. It would be courteous to call and let us know that or say that when making the appointment. It’s just very misleading to a customer who has to arrange their work schedule to come to an appointment, and then be told it’s a 2-4 hour wait.

Arrived on time for a scheduled and confirm d appointment and was turned around and told that they couldn’t take me because only one person out of the entire staff was as knowledgeable enough to do an inspection. No courtesy call or anything

I was informed that it would take about an hour and a half, 2 hours max to install 4 new tires so I chose to wait. Nearly 4 hours later, still waiting. SMH

Had terrible experience made an appointment to online to get a systems check on my car to see what the problem was the appointment was at 9am they didn’t take my car back till 5 hours later even tho I told them I was waiting there wasted my whole Sunday they did fix the problem and the mechanic was nice

Your appointment means nothing to this company. Don't waste your time. Go somewhere else. Read the reviews and you will see it's a common occurance. My friend had his car stolen from pepboys because they left the keys in it and left it outside when they closed
.. He sued as well and got his money lol. I had doubts about comming for an oil change and when I showed up. That's exactly what happened.. Horrible company.
