Bank is luring the customers for good CD rates for few months, but at the end of term customers ending up getting less interest rates than promised. Better ask lots of questions before start investing. Do not recommend anyone for lured CD scheme by bank. Not satisfied at all.

Car broke down and parked in their lot. Waiting for tow truck so knocked on the door to let them know my situation. Man came to the door and was rude and very disrespectful. Not a very good neighbor to someone in distress.

Employees over the phone are always confused. They can never help you. It's always another department. Oh, and that department is never in that day. Take your money somewhere else. Absolutely horrible.

I was recently charged $540 in overdraft fees. About 2 months ago I inquired on how to alleviate my overdraft charges and I was talked into signing up for this overdraft protection plan. However, the woman that I spoke with failed to tell me that it is like an open credit card and your card when you use it will not decline. It will let you purchase and then whack you with a $36 overdraft charge each and every time. Long story short I've been with this company for 26 years and I will be leaving

Why is it taking so long to receive NEW DEBIT CARD from SouthState since taking over from CenterState Bank. Poor Customer Service !

I liked First Federal. I am sorry South State took over. They refuse to open the lobbies even though everyone else somehow manages to interact and serve their customers. One teller said "It not SAFE...NOT SAFE!!" due to the fake pandemic they use as an excuse. While myself and every other business can unlock their doors and act like they have customers and a bottom line. This is nonsense. Instead, I have to wait in a LONG slow drive-thru line. You never know who will take 2 minutes and who will take 20, so the car is stuck in a lane and might take FOREVER while 5 other cars sail through the other lane. South State needs to learn the importance of serving their customers at the level expected of a professional operation. Instead of the poor customer service they offer while denying entry to the bank and sitting around enjoying the apparently permanent vacation they are taking from serving their customers. Dicks.

Worst Customer Service. I have been with them for over 10 years. 2 times in the last month I have made a credit card payment (credit card acquired through their bank) and the payment was never taken out of my checking acct.. I contacted them they referred me to the credit card company. The credit card company stated that the money was taken in error from another South State Bank customer which they knew because of the routing number. I called the bank back and explained the situation. They did not want to help figure out why this was happening. I had not changed anything since setting up these accounts 10 years ago. I can't believe that given another customers account was compromised that they would not want to be proactive to help resolve this. If my account was, I would hope that they would be looking into it. I guess it was too much to ask. I changed banks first thing the next business day.

This Bank is now in SC. Bought out a GREAT bank, First Federal. Since South State took over, Service is lousy, employees are slow, are not knowledgeable, act "bigger than their britches" and judge what you can do...or not. Example, you can write someone a check and they will HARASS that individual then charge them exorbitant fees to cash a low dollar check. Direct Deposits are held. They previously flat out refused to DEPOSIT A check, and it was a good check! Cashed elsewhere and no problems. They refuse to honor checks you may have written for General Purposes, NOT because of lack of funds! Because they were suspicious.....The money was there. Beware. Just a really bad experiences all around. No wonder so many of my friends have already closed accounts with this bank. Now it's our turn to do so. Good bye, to the worst bank we have ever had.
