Our girl Lexie has been well taken care of by Doctors and staff at Catawba.

Poor communication between grooming and vet. Long wait times to get into grooming. Thus, you’ll need to schedule months in advance. The one time my dog needed to see a vet for an antibiotic renewal I was given the run around. Instead of saying, “you’ll need to bring her in to be seen” I was led to believe prescription could be renewed. A day later I was told I’d need to bring her in (after I kept calling). Frankly, I felt like they couldn’t have cared less about my pet. I &think they’ve taken on too many clients and aren’t keeping up well. Additionally, their far more expensive than other places. After 3 years of bi-monthly services, my pets won’t be back.

Terrible rookie vets. Maybe for a vaccine but Don't go for a serious animal problem

our animal passed away after trying to seek care for our sick dog. she was having seizures and extremely disoriented and they did not care. we then called the office and told them our animal had died since they were the ones treating her and they hung up the phone.

I've had a lot of trouble with this office over the years. They haven't been consistent with getting me heartworm and flea prescriptions. They used to have Saturday appointments and now won't schedule them. I've seen some vets who weren't very friendly and others who were friendly but didn't seem as knowledgeable. They remodeled their office a few years ago and then increased their prices. I've never felt that the vet techs were particularly friendly to me or my pets. When boarding, they don't have a daycare area where the pets can play with each other, so boarding consists of staying in kennels and you have to pay extra for them to play with your dog for short periods of time. I boarded my dog a couple times and ever since then she's been terrified to go back. Nothing they've suggested medication-wise for the anxiety has helped. Then apparently she's been aggressive out of fear (which they never told me and i've never seen during our appointments) and then at my last appointment decided to call me a liar by saying that we talked about it multiple times and that they had emailed me about it, which never happened. So I'm washing my hands of this place.

After being a loyal customer for over 10 years, who referred countless people to their office, I have made the decision to take my fur babies elsewhere. The shift I have seen over the past few years both saddens and frustrates me. I no longer feel like they care about taking care of their clients as much as they care about generating revenue. The final straw was when we suddenly and tragically lost our youngest dog. It was a very horrific experience and took us all by surprise. It was literally one of the worst days of my life. In the days following, we did what anyone would do after a loss, we looked for answers and some sort of closure. My husband and I both called (not knowing the other was reaching out) and left multiple messages for two of the doctors….. no call backs. It wasn’t until I spoke with the office manager that someone finally called us back. Why should it take this much effort, during such a hard time, to get a return call from a doctor!? Over the last month I jotted down questions for our primary doctor and left a message with the office for her to call me when she had a few minutes (about our 13.5 yo diabetic dog). Imagine my surprise when the front desk person called me back instead. Once again, our doctor could not be bothered to return my call! After 10 years and multiple pets with them, my business didn’t matter enough to warrant a 10-minute call at the end of her day. At that point it was blatantly clear it was time to go elsewhere. When I spend thousands of dollars with someone, and trust my babies in their care, I certainly expect a level of respect, concern and professionalism in return. I moved my business that day and had their medical records transferred. Had things ended there I wouldn’t be writing this review. I would have just chalked it up as another disappointment and business that has lost sight of their values. However, they chose to stoop so low as to send me a nasty letter just to get the last word. A letter telling me that they were terminating their relationship with me. How petty, juvenile and unprofessional. This letter did nothing but confirm I had made the right decision to take my business elsewhere. If your pets are your “kids” – I would strongly recommend NOT choosing Catawba Animal Clinic.UPDATE: In response to Catawba's reply......Do NOT insult my intelligence or lie to cover your unprofessionalism. I also have the call recorded and know very well the events that took place and the conversation that was had. And yes, we are very happy at River's Edge! It was nice to have someone who listened to our concerns and treated us and our pet with respect. We left Catawba due to the disrespect of YOUR staff and doctors so it's pretty ironic you're trying to deflect that back on us. Once again proving we made the right decision. Best of luck.

This is the kind of vetinary practice that you want to take care of your special pet. The doctors are kind, knowledgeable, and thorough, and the staff is friendly and responsive. Treatment options are clearly explained, practical, and cost effective.

Was bringing in a sick cat that fought getting into the carrier. Left the house a few minutes later than expected. Called Catawba Animal Clinic and let them know we would be a few minutes late. I was told that typically, if you were running 15 minutes behind they'd have to reschedule, but since we were in the car, to come in. Arrived 16 minutes after the scheduled appointment and was told that we would have to sit and wait for the next availability, (which could be hours from now), and it would be over $100 to be seen since it was 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment. They don't care about you or your animal companion. Go elsewhere!

They quoted me a price for my dogs eye medicine and said I could pick up anytime. Since I didn't do right away that my $40 charge was now going to be over $110 . I am no longer taking my dog there.

You must trust you fur family with this family!! We have only been with Catawba Animal Clinic for a short time and feel like they have known us forever. We unfortunately lost a battle with our baby and couldn't thank everyone for the kindness, care, and respect we were given. Without them this journey would have been more difficult.Thank you Catawba Animal Clinic ?
