This has been my go to bank for several years, they have always went above and beyond. Eric was beyond kind, attentive, accommodating, and diligent. He is amazing and I really appreciate his kindness and his inviting character and professionalism!

Worst Customer Service. I have been with them for over 10 years. 2 times in the last month I have made a credit card payment (credit card acquired through their bank) and the payment was never taken out of my checking acct.. I contacted them they referred me to the credit card company. The credit card company stated that the money was taken in error from another South State Bank customer which they knew because of the routing number. I called the bank back and explained the situation. They did not want to help figure out why this was happening. I had not changed anything since setting up these accounts 10 years ago. I can't believe that given another customers account was compromised that they would not want to be proactive to help resolve this. If my account was, I would hope that they would be looking into it. I guess it was too much to ask. I changed banks first thing the next business day.

They've been sending critical information to the wrong physical address and email address after alerting them of the changes for months.

I came in to open a checking account and everyone that I met was so very friendly. The service was top notch. Opening my account was quick with minimal paperwork and they even helped me by printing a check as well as a note for setting up direct deposit. Overall this was a very positive experience and I look forward to banking here.

The 5 Forks Branch in my numerous dealing with them have always been very efficient, customer focused, friendly and just outright nice folks who will go that extra mile to insure the customer is satisfied. If you need a bank in the area , I highly recommend you give this this branch and South State Bank in general an opportunity to be your bank. I have nothing to do with this bank other than being a customer, but sometimes one just has to say something good when people treat you like a friend and not just a customer. That's really very unusual in this fast paced and impersonal world..

This has been the worst experience we have ever had with a bank (the chain, not necessarily this particular location). We have refinanced (after a short two years) just to get away from them. The customer service they provide is far from superior. I would not recommend banking or getting a loan through South State as they are incapable of keeping up with payments.
