I have been taking my pets to Pine Street Animal Hospital for years! I have never been disappointed. Dr. Adcock and the vet technicians are outstanding. They take time to explain your pet's diagnosis/prognosis and medications. The office and reception team are wonderful. If you love your pets, feel confident that they will be loved and treated with respect at Pine Street Animal Hospital.

I have been taking my dog here for a little over a year and today I called as I unfortunately have to put him down in the next few days. I now live in Charlotte and figured I would much rather take him somwhere, that they already have a relationship with him. However I was wrong, whoever picked up the phone @9:15 this morning was extremely rude and had no sympanthy and made me feel like the questions I was asking were dumb. I have worked at a vet before and know all vets have different procedures/ protocol when it comes to euthanasia but she made it seem like what I was asking made no sense. she asked me if I had tried medicine to help my dog and made it seem like I had no idea what I was talking about. She also had a heavy southern accent and I could not understand her. I had to ask several times to repeat what she was saying, maybe that was what annoyed her. Safe to say I wont be taking my dog here and hope they talk to this woman who answered the phone, this is such a hard time in my life having to put my dog to sleep and she was no help. The other vets I called were very professional and were sympathetic and UNDERSTOOD what I was asking. Shame on whoever answered the phone today.

The staff is always kind to us, and have a way of handling our kitties so they are not so nervous. Dr. Adcock always answers our questions so we know what is going on and how to treat.

Took my animal out of my sight and gave him a vaccine without my knowledge or consent.

We rescued a kitten off the side of the road 1.5 weeks ago that was severely emaciated, dirty and sick with an upper RI. The infection didn’t resolve on its own so we decided to entrust Pine Street Veterinary Hospital in treating this kitten. Upon entering the exam room the nurse immediately took our kitten in the back. Where they examined and “treated” the animal completely out of our sight. I assumed they would just weigh him and do what normally happens at a vet office but that was not the case. It was not communicated to me that they’d be doing the entire exam and treatment completely out of my presence. These exam rooms are rooms you basically are made to stay in away from your pet while they do what ever they want in the back to your animal autonomously with no communication and no transparency. Had I known this I would have requested the exam be done in the room but I was not given that opportunity. About 10 minutes after taking our cat to the back room Dr Adcock comes in and starts quickly overviewing the situation. He spoke very fast either as a means to rush the interaction or in my belief, upsell us for unnecessary tests. The interaction was similar to “your cat has an upper respiratory infection, we’re going to do a leukemia test and a aids test and give him a round of antibiotics” (telling me what he was going to do as opposed to asking me if it’s what I wanted) I declined any testing thereafter as it was very obvious this animal was exposed to extreme cold temperatures outside before we rescued him. It’s an obvious upper RI that can be treated with broad spectrum antibiotics. Anybody with a basic understanding of medicine knows this, especially a doctor. Thankfully I couldn’t be persuaded. Upon completion of the visit I was told our total, which seemed to be much higher than expected, so I asked for an itemized summary of our visit. Come to find out they vaccinated our cat with an anti inflammatory in the back without our knowledge, and without our consent. I confronted the nurse with this politely and she retrieved the manager (Dr Adcock’s wife) who came in and immediately insisted that I have a trust issue.. well I wonder why?! I also added my concerns with them doing the entire exam in the back and she implied “this is how we do things here” their way or the highway basically. She waived the charge for the vaccine which proves guilt and was visibly and audibly uncomfortable with this interaction. I genuinely feel sorry for her and the nurses today who had to deal with the problems her husband (Dr Adcock) created. He also never re-entered the room to discuss this problem with us, instead he stayed hidden away and sent his wife and the wonderful nurses working there to deal with it. Shame on him for that! Such a cowardly move in my opinion. I’m writing this review not only to bring awareness to Dr Adcock’s way of practice but to save anyone from experiencing something far worse who’s dealing with a much more serious situation than we were. He seems to be only after your money. After we declined testing he slips in a vaccine in an attempt to increase profits on the visit when his attempt to push tests on me failed. Is this the kind of practice you want to send your pets to? I don’t think so.I also want to add, it’s not all about price for me. I would’ve had no problem with them administering a vaccine to my animal if they just would’ve made me aware of it, and maybe told me why they felt it was necessary. I could’ve easily been sold on it had they told me that my animal was in pain and this anti inflammatory would alleviate those symptoms. Absolutely, I would’ve done it. It’s not a matter of price for me. It’s the fact that decisions were made without my consent, without my knowledge, without transparency and I was going to be charged for it.

Very compassionate staff. People giving 1 star reviews should look into pet insurance to help offset costs of care.

What a caring veterinary hospital! The whole crew here is so compassionate and it truly shows that they love our pets. And the prices are very fair for such top notch care. Thank you for all your hard work!
