They will lock you out of your bank account. And on the weekend or after hours you have absolutely no way to contact them as they do not have 24hr service. DO NOT BANK HERE!!!

My experience here has been excellent since day one when I brought in my mother to become a member. We have both had excellent customer service on every transaction, visit and phone call. The fees are very reasonable considering the post-Covid times comparing to other banks and credit unions. Cameron has helped on several occasions and was accurate, professional and very prompt with all communications. Each and every time we have visited we have been greeted with a genuine smile and NOT rushed like a cattle herd through the building as my family and I have been treated at Founders in the past. I would highly recommend anyone to do their banking here!

Charged me for a new debit card, when it was their ATM that went down and didn’t return my card. Horrible customer service.

I’ve been banking with Spero for a while. Terry the branch manager is awesome so was Sharae. I lost my job due to catching Covid and had a major surgery. So i took money from taxes paid a lump some so I wouldn’t be behind on my payments Cherise applied it to principal. Destroying my credit, they also took my credit card because of this. Cherise also threatened to use my personal information out of their database to sue me for recording her without her permission! Which is against the law to use my personal information with my bank for your own purposes. I feel as though I’ve been highly violated. I’m so disappointed and I’m happy I do have all this on recording

Worthless. Was with them for over 10 years and the quality kept going down hill. I finally switched to a bank I'm much happier with and keeps the same employees. Don't ever do anything with them were you'll need important tax documents for filing your taxes. They don't send them to you until well after tax season when you need them, then you're lucky if they fill them out right. Maybe I should have reported them to the IRS for improper handling if tax documents. When there supposed to send a corrected form your lucky if they fix it or if you even get one. And they were starting to charge just as many or more fees than a non credit union. I'd give negative stars if I could. Horrible place.

Absolute terrible place to bank! They were awesome when they were SCTelco but now that Spero has taken over it is awful! I now have a charge off because some how they say I have a $40 balance on something! I did some research and it looks like they charge a $5 fee each month to have a checking account. I didn't know this and I had switched to my wife's bank account back when we got married 7 years ago. Well because of this fee the money I had in this account apparently ran out because of the fee and they charged off the $5 plus a fee of $35.Now this has caused my credit to go down 130+ points!! I'm in the process of buying a house and my current bank is considering not giving me a mortgage because of this!Everybody needs to stay away from this place and bank anywhere else!!

I had really high hopes for Spero but it's just not a good fit for business owners that are growing successfully. I'll start with the good. When we visited the branch to open our accounts, our account manager was very nice. The branding and building look nice, modern. Now on to the daily struggles you may experience as a business owner with a business checking account with Spero. 1. There is a $6000 limit on bill pay (That's your ability to send a check to a vendor or pay yourself with a check.) 2. Bill Pay takes a week unless you pay $15.95 for 2 day rush delivery. Which means they have the capability of processing it faster, they just charge for it. Not competitive with other online credit unions. 3. If you need to pay above $6000 to someone, you might try to do multiple bill pays to the same recipient as a work around. You can't issue the same amount to the same person on the same delivery day. For whatever reason, they want you to change the amounts or the day they are received, even if the memo clarifies the different payments. 4. Spero doesn't allow business checking accounts to transfer funds to outside accounts (so no owner's draw transfers to personal checking/savings). If they did allow it, there would still be a $5000 transfer limit imposed. [I wasn't notified that I was denied due to it being a business checking account, until after filling out the lengthy forms and receiving the test deposits to the outside checking account.] 5. Mobile Depositing a check is a pain. Requires all four lines on the back of check filled out. (Note: Account # and Member # are not the same thing). This would be tolerable if it wasn't for all the other hoops you have to jump through. 6. Mobile Deposits aren't instantly approved like other credit unions, it takes at least another business day just for the approval (which depends on all four lines of information being complete, accurate and consistent with previous mobile deposits.) 7. No integrated access to Zelle, Venmo, etc for ease of transferring money. It seems like Spero's highest priority is ensuring that you can't easily move YOUR money away from their credit union. You could say that some of this is for safety, but that makes me question their security resources. Their solution seems to be to go into a branch to perform your basic business banking needs. That seems pretty archaic compared to banks and credit unions that operate without branch locations. I don't know any business that has time for frequent trips to branch locations. I probably would have thought this was all normal or necessary if I didn't have experience with other credit unions. Again, I really enjoy the people that work for Spero's branches, but their online experience & customer service is extremely weak. I hope upper management provide their employees stronger more efficient products to sell to their clients/customers. We will likely be making a move this year. I hope this helps someone seeking out business banking solutions. Have a great day.

The new online banking does not show your balance after each transaction. Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous?

Been a member for over 10 years. Loved it when it was SC Telco. Got tired of the banks charging for everything. Now, since the merger, fees for everything equal to what the banks charge. No personalized service, only marketing emails.I cannot recommend them, anymore. Awful. No regard for the average client, just a lust for profit/greed. They exemplify everything one finds disgusting when dealing with a bank.Would post no stars but it is not possible. Sure there will be a fee for this review.

I would not use Spero Credit Union if they were the only bank available. I have had issue after issue and no one seems to be able to give me any answers. I highly recommend you do not bank with Spero!
