“I had difficulty signing on to the Family Dollar website, and eventually left the store without my $5 savings. It frustrated me because I'm a teacher, buying out of pocket. I returned to my car, worked out the glitch, went back in and the very nice young man (Cyrus?) who witnessed my first failure, gave me a refund, rang up the items (again) and then I left, with my refund in hand. I appreciate his patience. Instead of leaving annoyed, I left happy, though I cost him several wasted minutes.”
“I’m a returning customer to this location. I’ve never really had any problems here. Staff has always been polite to my family and prices are pretty competitive. Reviewers complaining about low inventory should realize what’s going on across the country with the supply chains before they bash the Dollar General team that works there. Low inventory is a problem everywhere, not just at Sumter Dollar General.”
“8.11.25 This is my go to place for all things decorating. I was looking for small skull heads to go on top of a halloween fence that I was making.

fly off the shelf so was grateful to grab these. They have four self check registers and all of these were open and functioning, as well as a cashier.
Not a lot of staff in the store to help if you have a problem.”
“I got almost everything I went for plus a few extra things I saw! The employees were very nice & helpful so I could get my stuff quickly. This was my 1st time in this location & it is a nice store. They were not busy when I went in but quickly got a little busy. They were in the process of putting out stock so it was a little crowded in some spots but nothing outta what is expected. This is the nicest location we have here in my opinion. I love Dollar Tree!”
“This dollar general is very clean. Shelving was stocked and labeled correctly. Bathroom was not the cleanest. No toilet paper. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The parking lot was well maintained. Good shopping experience and speedy checkout.”

“I stopped at the store on Hwy 15 N in Sumter, SC. It was real early morning January 5, 2022 & although I didn’t want to stop, I had no choice as my dogs were out of food. My husband had just passed away late the night before. I was a complete mess when I went in there & of course emotionally distraught. My mind was all over the place & there was no way to fight off the tears. I got to the counter to pay & told the young lady to please forgive me as I had just lost my husband. She stopped everything she was doing & ran out to me with open arms & a shoulder to cry on. She held me up when I couldn’t hold it together. She was so genuinely compassionate & caring. She even walked me to the car & gave me a final hug goodbye. I hope you will please recognize this young lady. I found out her name is Brittany & she is no longer at this store but has moved to another store. She is so sweet & caring. You really have a winner with this employee! ?”

“I was greeted as soon as I entered the establishment I knew exactly what I was looking for did not need any assistance. The store was clean and it smelled Pleasant. The store had ample parking but they need to paint the lines in the parking lot again the lines on the parking spaces are worn out. But all is well at this establishment will return.”

“These stores are not staffed adequately. There was a customer dispute at the only open register. The dispute was concerning the listed price of an item not being congruent with the posted sign price. The teammate needed the manager in order to cancel the transaction. The queue grew long with angry customers. This person at the register, (Kayla) handled the situation like a champion. Please consider immediately promoting this level-headed thinking lady to a manager, post haste! Bravo Kayla! You have made a positive impression on these customers!”
