Balanced Pets were great when I needed to get my cat to the vet in an emergency. They will be greatly missed

I have been disappointed in the bedside manor (the few times we went, I felt as if the vets were not friendly, didn't greet my dog, not friendly to me, not keen on my dog being nervous and snarly, which in turn, made me more anxious and uncomfortable) here and have recently switched to another vet. If you are looking for a place that is welcoming, has great bedside manor, and calming to a nervous pet parent and pet..this is not the place for you.

Can’t say enough good things about my first visit at Balanced Pets today. I have had a few different vets from moving over the last 5 years, and the service I received here was top notch. The front desk staff is very welcoming and friendly. The vet tech, Logan, had a very warm and kind presence and instantly eased my anxiety of seeing a new vet. She was so sweet with my pup and made us feel comfortable while we waited for the doctor. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Dr Barr. She is kind, respectful, informative, takes the time to listen, and cares about your pet like it’s her own. You can feel how passionate she is about what she does and that she truly cares about your dogs well being. She is very well informed and takes the time to explain things to you and 100% supports the decisions you make for your pet and does not try to force anything on you. I’ve never had a vet like this- I wish there was more of them. The good energy in this office is palpable. I’m so thankful for Balanced Pets and we are looking forward to our next visit!

They're very kind to your pet, knowledgeable about both Western and Eastern medicine practices, and know how to perfectly blend them together. My pup has been much happier since visiting Balanced Pets!

When my dog was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer called hemangiosarcoma, I was told he would live 1 to 3 months without chemo and 3 to 6 with chemo by a different veterinarian practice. This is the statistic for this type of cancer. After meeting an oncologist to discuss chemotherapy, I decided that it was not the route I wanted to take with my boy. My regular vet recommended I talk with Dr. Ashlee Barr. From the moment I met her, I knew that holistic treatment was the best option for my boy. Her bedside manner was impeccable on our visit. She explained everything to me thoroughly, was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. When I left her office that day, I felt peace in my heart knowing this was the best decision for him. It's been six months of holistic treatment with Dr. Barr and my boy has done so well under her care. She is such a beautiful soul with a true passion for her work and the animals she cares for. She was truly a ray of light in a time of darkness for us and for that my boy and I will always be grateful. I recommend her to any pet parent. If you want your pet in the best of hands, this is the practice for you. The staff is so compassionate and loving as well. If I could give Dr. Barr 100 stars I most certainly would.

The beside manner that the conventional veterinarian had was absolutely terrible- I brought my 7 week old rescue in and she walked in the room, didn’t greet him, very in and out- made me feel uncomfortable for mentioning my plans of eventually feeding him raw food and delivered some terrible health news in such a cold manner.Vets who love what they do want you to feel good and okay and understand exactly what’s going on- not send you in a panic and and not sit down and really explain everything.I would never in my life think about bringing our animals back to this vet- I had plans to meet with the holistic veterinarian in October but he wasn’t feeling well so thought I’d try out her since she had an opening to see what was going on.Wish I would have went anywhere else- highly recommend you do not go to this facility.Facility was sub par.Other workers were nice.UPDATE: Just left the emergency vet that they referred me to after she made me panic about “fluid” in his abdomen. Within first 10 minutes of being here they said the fluid was a normal amount for a puppy of his age- and everything seems to be fine.Just spent $2k today- for an incompetent vets mistake.DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE.

Dr. Barr is phenomenal! Extremely caring and experienced. Her Acupuncture and educational sessions have helped my girl start taking longer walks again!

I cannot speak highly enough about this place. We had a cat that had a bad reaction with a medication and it was really looking bad. The whole staff was so sweet, despite me being irrational with emotions about my cats current state. The director there, Lisa, is an absolute gem. Rarely do you run across such caring people with such amazing bedside manner. She checked up on our kitty throughout her stay at Upstate Vet as well as reached out to my wife almost daily. We live in Mauldin and drive out here because it's the absolute best.

The people were kind and patient with my pup who is very anxious. My reasoning for the 2 stars is that they were not up front with me when booking my appointment which wasted my time and money. My dog has a cracked tooth so I called to have a consult for an extraction. They booked me an appointment. When I arrived they had a very quick visit informing me that it is intact cracked and that I need to have it removed, both things I was fully aware of. They proceeded to tell me they could do the procedure but suggest I go somewhere that has an X-ray machine (they don’t yet have them) because it’s important to check after the procedure to make sure a piece of tooth was not missed. Had I known this ahead of time, I never would have booked the appointment. I took off a day of work, paid $60 and drove 25 mins each way for no reason other than to waste my time and money. I am very frustrated that I was not told this from the start. I now will have to pay another consultation fee, take off another day of work and find somewhere else to take my dog. I’m sure they are good at what they do but this is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth.

They are no longer holistic. I established care then later called to get my dog spayed. I was told I would not receive care bc of my dogs vaccine status. I lost my heart dog to a vaccine injury and my bother is an invalid from a vaccine injury. I will fiercely protect my dogs just as I do my family. Vaccines are not safe!! Now I can't receive the care my animal needs and it took me many calls to find them originally. Don't waste your time calling if your looking for a vet who will respect the needs and belief systems of you and your family. Once the damage is done there is no going back and I know from experience vets take no responsibility for what they do. Shame on you guys!!

They treat our two dogs exceptionally well. They love on them, so the potential anxiety is reduced.

This establishment no longer advocates for or even tolerates a balanced raw fed diet following ownership and veterinarian changes. I've been driving an hour each direction for years just to not be accosted with one sided information regarding diet or even tolerance. I will be looking for a closer veterinarian that will give me the same treatment.

We board our pets here several times each year. They are really good with them and are reasonably priced.
