Let's start with Honest Mechanic!! That should tell you right there. I took my daughters 2012 Jeep Compass to my normal place I use for oil changes and other small car repairs and asked them to check out the noise she gets while driving. They drove it and then put it up on the rack and spun the tires and said, the wheel bearings are fine. It's probably the differential. I said well I will let you know. (The owner of this establishment who was not there that day is very nice and a good guy. He will hear about this though.) So on Friday May 15th 2020, I decided to take the Jeep to a transmission place and I went to Greenville Transmission on Cedar Lane Rd. After having the Jeep for a the day, they called me back and I spoke to Tammy and she said there are no parts available, but they found a used differential and it would be $1300.00 to replace. I asked what was it in the differential, bearings? She said what does it matter, we can't get parts till September. Do you want to wait until September? She said we can have the differential here Wednesday so we need $600 so we can get the used differential with 54,000 miles on it ordered. She actually was very rude to me but, it was a Friday???? So I said well, I will be in to give you a check and pick up the jeep. But, my daughter had an accident at work and we rushed her to memorial. I got her there but couldn't go back because of Covid 19. She is fine now, thank goodness!!! So while waiting for my daughter I called into Greenville Transmission and gave them the news and said I will pick up the Jeep later that Friday and I will come back Monday to give a down payment on the used differential. Just lock the keys in the Jeep we have another set. Having thoughts over the weekend about the interaction with Greenville Transmission, I decided to look around for another Transmission place and get a second or actually third opinion. I looked on line and living in Travelers Rest, I took the Jeep to RPM Transmission and met with Rondle. He drove the Jeep and called me. He said you need rear wheel bearings. The savings over a USED TRANSMISSION was HUGE!!! I had Rondle replace the bearings and the terrible noise went away. The differential and the transmission was fine. Rondle is honest and fair. With less than 100,000 miles, wheel bearings makes more sense. So, If you live anywhere within a 100 miles of Travelers Rest, go to RPM first or have your vehicle checked, and then pass by everyone else and have Rondle at RPM exam your vehicle. You will not be disappointed!! He is a transmission guy, but will not sell you something you don't need. He makes sure he does the right thing. I will be writing another review on the Greenville Transmission web site as well. Thank you Rondle!! Much appreciated and I will tell everyone about what you did for me!! Roger Wareham Travelers Rest
