5 Stars — A Sharp Eye and Honest Hands at AC/DC Automotive
Scott is THE BOSS!
Big shoutout to AC/DC Automotive Repair & Towing in Rapid City for catching something no one else did. I brought in my van due to overheating issues, and while most people would’ve gone straight for the parts, these guys went straight to observation — and what did they find? A piece of cardboard wedged in front of the radiator, likely placed there during winter to keep the engine warm. It was still blocking airflow and causing unnecessary heat retention. They pulled it out on the spot.
They also helped me perform a visual inspection and explained the purpose behind the obstruction without trying to upsell or overcomplicate things. No pressure, just knowledge. I appreciated how they were honest, down-to-earth, and focused on solving the real problem instead of just throwing parts at it.
Sometimes it’s not about replacing a bunch of stuff — it’s about catching the little things others miss. And AC/DC nailed that. If you need a smart, straightforward mechanic in the Rapid City area, these are your people.

had an engine swap due to an engine knock and they didn't warranty the engine that was delivered but didn't warranty labor now my check engine light is on starting off with a system running lean then then it went to misfires in cylinders 1&4

We have had my vehicle at ACDC Automotive a few times with Scott and his team and honestly it was the best car repair experience we've had! Scott took the time to help me understand what was wrong and pointed me in the right direction for getting it fixed. He also took the time to reexplain the vehicles issues with my husband without any huffypuffy tones. He was always open and honest in conversations and the price he quoted was the price we paid! No surprise adjustments. ACDC saved us so much time and money compared to what we got from our vehicles dealership. Highly recommend!

Look no further and trust your vehicle here. By far the best shop I have ever experienced or heard of, operated by the coolest and nicest mechanic, and his boss, the wife 😂
I was on a cross-country RV trip and had an issue with my steering rack. I brought my truck into the shop for them to look at, and not only did they quickly get me taken care of, they did so for a price significantly less than I was ever expecting. I cannot recommend the shop more, and I was shocked that they were so exceptionally well priced especially considering I pulled in with California plates.

Great people. Had an issue with our brake fluid on a road trip and came in just to see what was wrong. Pointed us in the right direction and told us exactly what was wrong very quickly.

Scott's the best. He has been or has worked on my vehicles when I just did not feel like it, or had a broken bone and could not.
He changed a fuel pump on my Pontiac just after I had filled it up. I am sure that made a mess, but he knew how to handle it, did it right, and did not charge me extra. Just for giggles I called a few other places, and over the phone the other places quoted me a LOT more than what he charged.

I came here for a second opinion and although they couldn’t help me with what I needed; I appreciated their honesty and pointing me in the right direction. They also fixed a control arm for me a few years ago. Definitely recommend.

Asked them to assist my nephew a year ago! Helped him on the spot with a car issue & got him rolling on down the road by just calling them! Kudos to them, the owner is very nice & helpful! I'd have them work on my cars if I lived there! ? %

Needed a wire harness fixed. Gave them a call, told them whats wrong/whats needed and was able to be seen relatively soon due to the holiday. Dropped the car off at 8 am, got it back 2pm same day. Fair price and didn't get up-charged for anything ridiculous. If you need an honest mechanic, this is the place.

Scott and the family has always taken care of my family and our vehicles. He’s one of the best around and I don’t trust anyone else with their estimates unless it’s AC/DC. Best mechanics shop in town and probably the best in the rapid city area. Honest business goes a really long way!

scott was straight forward and easy to work with im gald to have found a good mechanic being new to the area and now i have a go to for work that needs to be done.$$good & honest pricing for a 1.75-2.5hours job he priced @ 2hours which i was happy with.
